I was trying to fix the stapler, and I punched one through my thumb (from the pad side so the end of the staple hit my fingernail). :-( Good thing I work in a medical office - the ARNP pulled it out for me.
I advise that none of you do this - it's quite uncomfortable.
My dad had an electric stapler once and was in a church council meeting. I was hanging out in his office playing with the stapler (sticking paper in it and watching it staple and trying to imagine how the mechanism worked). I figured out the little lever that the paper had to hit and was watching that and my little 5yo thumb slipped right in before I knew it! OMHEAVENS that hurt!! I squeezed really hard at the base of the tumb, figuring if I lessened the blood flow, it couldn't hurt so much and went in to my dad's meeting and walked up to him very quietly. The first time I said, "Dad?" He shushed me and told me he was in a meeting. Then I said a little louder, "Dad?" and held up my thumb. Hoo boy did he jump up super fast to rush me out and help....and help came down to removing it with a staple remover which hurt worse than it going in!!
