So we had a second meet and greet yesterday with the Yorkie. She was sick though. It was so sad, she wouldn't come out of her kennel. I think we are going to pass on her.
But, we did meet another dog. She's a 2 year old pit bull. She is everything we want in a dog. She's well-trained, excellent on the leash, and sweet. She walked in the room and got up on my lap and laid down.but I'm have by reservations about owning a pit. I know there are big stigmas artsy her to these dogs, I just don't want anything to happen with my dog. She also sheds quite a bit. We are just so torn. She is also great with kids as well. We get to see her again today. She also loves to run and can wear a back pack for hiking.

Would you have problems with your homeowner's insurance with a pit mix? I know some insurance companies will not cover pitbulls or pit mixes. She's very cute!

Then you should definitely pass. You need to be 100% sure about whatever dog you get, and this sweet dog deserves an owner who is 100% sure about her. There's nothing wrong with not being totally sure about any particular dog, but then just don't get that dog. And given how nice this dog sounds, she'll be snapped up by the right family for her in no time.
I might be wrong about this, but based on your dog posts, it kind of sounds like you're trying really hard to make a currently available dog work for you. If there aren't any that are a good fit right now, that's ok, just wait a bit. The right dog for you will come along and then it will be awesome. Good luck!

wrong. I'm a dog lover and want them all! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What are your concerns with the stigma - how people will react? Or you're worried she will "turn on you" or something like that? If that's a concern, I would definitely recommend passing - dogs feed off your energy and you need to be able to get a dog you feel comfortable and confident owning. I love pits, but also admit I am not the right owner for them. I like lazy dogs that sleep and need little from me as a human. LOL. Give me a pug.
Two of our three pups have pit in them, and they are the sweetest dogs.
I 100% agree with MP, only you know if the dog is right for you.

A ha - I can definitely relate to that. I always say I could never volunteer at a shelter because I would be bringing them home by the carload. Just keep in mind that it's not fair to the dog if it's not a great fit for both of you, and you'll be fine. Good luck in your search!
We have a pit mix we got as a puppy and a Pomeranian as well as several cats and a lot of kids. Our pit does well and is a very natural nurturer and protector to the kids. So is the pom and the pom is actually the mean little bitch that will get you. I believe an animal is an animal and you should educate yourself on that and never be surprised when they act like the animal they are. We had a black lab we adopted from a shelter and I am pretty sure we oiled to about her age and how she came to them. She was small animal aggressive, male aggressive as well as small child. We only did a shelter test and she was fine, when she got home she was a different dog. It broke my heart when we gave her away, I still visit her but I really wish we had done more and I wish the shelter had been honest.
I love her! But PP are right, if you have reservations, she might not be the dog for you.
You want walks well on leash, chill, & low shed. Have you talked to a greyhound rescue in your city. If you're open to bigger dogs the breed might be a good fit for you.
