Ugh, so I just noticed my feet/ankles swelling for the first time yesterday. 23 weeks seems early for this but the bump and baby center weekly emails mentioned it this week so I guess I'm right on schedule.
When did you all first have swelling? What has worked best to minimize it?
I've been having some minor swelling if I don't wear my compression hose to work. I can't remember when I first noticed it. I have 5 pair of thigh high compression hose from Ames Walker (the best imo, the ones from the nursing stores suck); they're the medium strength. The only reason I wear thigh high instead of knee high is because I've already got varicose veins on both inner knees, right where the socks hit.
So I recommend compression hose. It's not sexy, but it does help with swelling and achy legs.
My feet are the first to go. I can tell that some of my shoes are tighter than before. I guess it happened around this time with my son because I was dying to wear flip flops and the weather was still cold.
Mine just started around 31 weeks. My feet are now huge and I can't fit in my shoes anymore! The only thing that helps is having my H rub them. I try to elevate them after work and my H will rub lightly kind of pushing up towards my body which seems to help bring the swelling down. My dr also recommended eating less salt but I don't eat much already.
I didn't really notice much until 3rd trimester. Then it kind of snuck up on me and everything swelled slightly (including my hands and wrists which were the most annoying)
I ended up gaining a lot of water weight in the end due to hypertrnsion. Nothing I could really do about it. It was all gone by a week after giving birth.

At 33 weeks I only have it in my hands so far. It's not major but I don't wear my rings anymore for fear they won't come off. I keep watching my feet and waiting for it to happen. I secretly hope it doesn't just to spite my sister who is all "your feet will swell and NEVER be the same size again!!". I'm wearing the highest heels I can manage to my shower this weekend also just to spite her lol.

I first noticed around 34/35 weeks (I am 37.5 now). My left ankle/foot seems to get larger than my right, which is odd to me. I sleep with it elevated and by morning it is fine...but then as the day goes on it just swells up again. I have an appointment today and I will mention it since it seems to be swelling more often.

Ladies that are suffering from all the swelling, i'm so sorry. whiskey, that looks painful. I started swelling only about a week and a half ago, so I am pretty luck it took this long.
Oh man, that looks bad. My feet actually look very similar. Also 33 weeks. It blows. Does soaking in water help? I've been trying to elevate and have my H rub them, but nothing really helps.

Honestly it seems like nothing helps. I had a 30 minute foot and leg massage yesterday (that's where I took this pic) and it hurt like hell but helped w swelling temporarily.
If I could spend an entire day on my couch w them up they go down. Slightly. But as soon as I go back to real life, it's back. It is now all the way up to my knees.
But I'm almost another week down, so ... yay?! Lol
whiskeyandwine - You poor thing! I looked like that during my pregnancy w/ O. There is one (small) upside. After you deliver, you're ankles/feet are going to look so slender!
Omg so it will go away?! I have been in fear I'll never walk the same again. Lol.
I am wearing strictly ugly sandals or very loose tennis shoes. It's still snowing here!

Same here! The only shoes I can get on are my sneakers with the laces almost completely open. It is so sad. And it is still cold here too! I want flip flop weather.
I also hope this doesn't mean my shoe size will go up after pg. I've heard that before and I just bought a bunch of cute shoes!!!

Omg whiskey!
I've noticed minor swelling and combined with a weird bone spur thing I'm exclusively in sandals for the next 11weeks.
I want to buy compression socks, but I live in a mild climate so I'm already in dresses and sandals (it will be obvious). My vanity may only hold out for so long.

I know it must suck to have the end of your pregnancy during the peak of summer, but I'd kill for maxi dress and flip flop weather about now.
