We close on our house next Tuesday! We will be all moved in by the 4th. This is the layout we are planning on doing in the living room (stole from the model because I have no imagination).
This is the couch we ordered from allmodern:
We will most likely get a couple chairs from Ikea and we also maybe thinking of the Karlstad loveseat from Ikea:
Would the love seat go, or should we get the matching love seat from allmodern? or something completely different? The
I actually think that room has too much furniture for the size. I would hold off on the love seat and maybe just purchase two chairs, live with those for a while and then see what feels right. Especially since (I think?) it's open to the dining area? Unless you have some reason for seating 8 people on a regular basis?
That is a beautiful couch, though.
You are probably right. Our townhouse was so small and had limited layout options and now I have room and I don't know what to do. I'm getting a little excited about decorating. I will probably live with the couch and the chairs for awhile and see how that feels.
We need curtains that are at least 108" and we are going to hang the curtain rods at the same height and I haven't found any that I love, so for now I am buying the plain gray curtains from Ikea to put in the living room/over our slider door. At only $40 a pair they can be temporary until I find something I love.
Ahh thanks for the update! I am sure it's quite difficult to find something both you and your DH love.
Actually I did find curtains that I loved but they were WAY out of my price range and we found other curtains that we liked but didn't come in the length we need. I can't believe how expensive curtains are. I need to learn how to sew.

Except after you learn how to sew you still find fabric you love that are $$$/yd! LOL!

We have a similar layout. Two chairs on one side, a couch facing our fireplace (where you have TV) and then we have a bay window with a chair and a storage ottoman under. It's worked well for us and I like that we have enough furniture that I can turn our open room into a more closed room by putting the back of the couch toward the open area of the house or open it up with chairs in that same location and more room to maneuver and the couch near the wall. Does that make sense?

I agree I would want something either matched or totally different. What you have looks like "almost-but-not-quite." I think patterned upholstered chairs would be cool.
We are thinking about getting two of these, I love yellow and gray together. Then I'm going to shop around for pillows, coffee table...not in a hurry for that stuff right now. Mainly want a place to sit.
Just a thought.. how do you guys feel about patterns on the wall? Not wallpaper if you hate it...maybe stencil a pattern with yellow and gray on the walls? (ducks quick in case bricks come flying).. LOL!

Not against it, I have an idea in mind for a stencil in our bedroom. But we just painted out entire town house among other projects before we sold it and I'm not in the mood to paint for awile. We are planning on being in this home for a long time so we will be painting. and we have a lot of art (my H has a degree in art and we have a lot of artist friends) so the walls won't be bare.
