I couldn't get my garmin to connect today and I am wondering if that is a normal occurrence in bad weather. It was rainy, cloudy with areas of fog today. I've run the route before with my garmin 220 and didn't have an issue with it acquiring a signal. I'Ve on,y had it for two and a half months and I only run 2-3 times a week.
The Garmin or any GPS needs a line of sight to connect to the satellites. Blocking things could include heavy cloud cover, fog, trees, being under a bridge, being indoors, etc. It is one reason cycling Garmins are notoriously inaccurate when mountain biking b/c of the tree cover.
