I'm willing to bet a lot of the older sliding board people also know who Mr. Yuk is.
It was similarly shocking to me when I learned not everyone had him on their medicine cabinet growing up.
I know Mr Yuk!
Does anyone else know Patch the Pony? "Neigh, neigh, from strangers stay away?" My h was convinced I'd dreamt that, until I found internet proof of Patch.
I have never heard of Patch the Pony. I feel like this is something I should regret.
I said slide but have heard and used sliding board before. I don't recall if I was shamed into calling it a slide by DH. He dislikes my use of terms like drinking fountain and shopping cart. I correct DS when he says he used the bubbler.
Noooooo! Bubbler is correct: the water bubbles up for you to drink it.
A fountain is what's in front of office buildings or Versailles.
Incorrect! But if your water lines have air in them so that there are bubbles in your water fountains, then you have bigger problems. "Bubbles" indicates there is air, not just water.

Yes, Patch was quite the talk of the town in New Berlin Center Kindergarten, circa 1971!

I have never heard sliding board. I asked my H, who grew up in Newark, DE and used to say MAC machine. He too says slide, which is weird based on the geography in this thread. But also a relief.

I'm always surprised people don't know it's called a bubbler because that's the name of the valve. 4 th grade Wisconsin history has made me a smug bastard.

I know I'm late and I promise to finish reading the thread but I had to quote here. I was just talking about poison control and Mr Yuk with DH earlier this week when we were trying to figure out how to organize one of the cabinets. I totally forgot about the special round green sticker!

My contributions: It's a slide, sliding board isn't something my phone even wants to type
Pants, you almost killed me. Actually lol w tears and hiccups
It's a water fountain and Massachusetts (where I've lived for a total of 11 years over the course of my life) is wrong. But you can't JUST call it a fountain b/c otherwise people will direct you to public...well, fountains lol.
When I moved to MA when I was 8, my sister and I were so confused over bubbler. We came home from school on the first day and were like, okay, we made a mistake, let's go back to NH. I still can't call it a bubbler, neither can Jake, and so help me if Marc and Gabe do!
