Okay, it's official that my H was right about this one. My internet dress shopping almost always ends badly. Thank you for your honesty clsealegt7301bilovecandy and Mushe.
Almost all the dresses I own are solid color, probably because they are more versatile and classy that way. Duh! I have a lot of black and blues, a few darker red shades. I'm going for something more summery.
Mushe - I'm totally grateful if you feel like dress searching. It's from Modcloth, and if I exchange for credit instead of return I save the shipping and get an extra $5. I didn't realize it before I ordered, but that return policy makes way happier than wasting the return shipping.
ETA: I don't really NEED a dress, so my budget is not big. $50-$60 max.
I don't dislike polka dots. I think you can have fun with a pattern if you don't want solid. It would be better, I think, if the polka dots were smaller. This dress is a smaller polka dot, and not such a young cut/ color combo. www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/all-she-wants-to-do-is-prance-dress-in-jade How casual is the wedding? I think this could be cute on you w/a the right earrings & a great summer wedge. No clue if it's your style, I was just finding a fun spring pattern. Plus, OMG, that color would look amazing on you.
ETA: Every dress I want to suggest is out of stock.

I know clseale! Such is the problem with Modcloth. That and most of the others that look cute are so short. I like this green though. I will definitely think about that one.
Very casual I think. It's actually the back home reception for the wedding we went to in Mexico. I probably wouldn't buy a new dress, but I wore virtually all my summer dresses while on the trip. I could just re-wear something or even find a skirt and top though.
thom, I hope the Sunday long run happens! I totally get you on it not happening when it gets pushed. You are seriously so pretty. I would die for your figure! I'm with clseale that a solid might work better. Want us to troll the Internet for dresses?
oliviapope, welcome! Glad you're jumping in. We're definitely going to tell you to do it! Tell me more about the race series.
There's 3 races, one a month starting in September. The first two are 10Ks one over the Kemah bridge, second over the Galveston causeway. The last race is a half over a ginormous ( the Fred Hartman in La Porte)bridge. The half is the only one I'm really concerned with because I totally bombed it. It ended up being hot and humid and I wasn't prepared.

I guess I've never really looked on modcloth before. There were so many more casual summery dresses I wanted to link for you, but every single one was out. It definitely sounds like you can go pretty casual, though.
Did you get the red dress that you wore to that wedding on modcloth? I thought I saw it. Such a pretty dress.

Sounds fun! I love the idea of a series, but I can imagine that even Sept in texas is hot!

I had a bowl of chocolate Talenti and watched some shows on the DVR after a very, very long day. My major decision this evening was to forgo my long road bike ride tomorrow in favor of a mountain bike ride. The windchill won't be over freezing til noon or 1. Too cold for me to be on the road. Maybe next weekend.
thom I say get something in a solid color for the wedding. Keep the dress and wear it somewhere fun b/c it looks so cute on you!
clseale -- Nope, that was a Macy's dress. Or possibly JCPenney. I can look tomorrow if I remember!
Thanks for the compliments & honesty all. I liked the idea of this dress, but I think it's probably better for a curvy/busty body as opposed to long & lanky. Either way I think yes to the cardigan though!
thom, I love the jade one that clseale found, but wanted to look for some more options too!
www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/ready-sunset-go-dress I think this one would look especially good with a more structured belt, and maybe a nice scarf/pashmina type thing to wrap around yourself if it's cold

Mushe -- you are such a peach! I know you're up at the crack of dawn to meet your running group, and here you are looking at dresses for me. Heart. I really like the last one, but I don't need more black. Lol. I also like the two pinks. I might get the first one or wait it out on the second one. Have a good run!
Mushe, I was looking at that second one!! There are so many cute dresses. I was going to get a dress the other day & it's already gone. I also really like this one.... But it's polar opposite from where we started. Lol Now I'm just shopping. www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/great-wavelengths-dress-in-olive
ETA: thom, I just did a search by color. This is a solid, but the color is gorgeous & very spring/summery. If you're a small, they still have it in stock. Just another option. I may be projecting, since this is more my style than the polka dot dresses. It's even labeled as a backyard celebration dress. Lol www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/backyard-celebration-dress
clseale -- I was looking at that backyard pink one. I like the dress on the mannequin, but I think it looks way different and baggy on the girl who posted a picture with it on. Maybe it's just the way she's wearing it, but it seems sacky. I just don't want to order & return another dress. Ack.

It definitely looks like it's a style that would fit at the waist & then have a bit of a billow to the top. This is why I almost never shop online. LOL I totally get it.
