I'm so tired, I don't know why I'm still up. MH is playing a stupid computer game and it's annoying me.
J was such a mess today. He's got some kind of crud. I think he's on the verge of retracting and wheezing, but isn't really. The Vicks seems to be helping. And he fell and landed nose first on the corner of a stool leg, so he has a perfect line going right down his nose.
I have to work ALL day tomorrow. It's going to suck.
I am so tired. I have yet to sleep today and am running on three hours a day for the last three days. But I cannot believe such a sweet-natured baby came from two such stubborn, easily annoyed parents. He peed all over himself at the midnight diaper change. Like in his eye, up his tummy...the air was chilly and we realized we only owned three newborn sleep outfits since the doctors told us to expect a 10-pound baby. He went through all of them today. So we are frantically trying to wipe him down, figure out what to put him in, etc., and he just makes his sweet little squeaks and holds our fingers for comfort. And he will just sit and stare at us making silly faces and snuggle with us forever. He really seems to engage, and he is three days old. I love this kid.
That said, I am a neurotic mess about sleep. I have to be right next to him at night, but I can't seem to sleep because I'm terrified if I don't hear a noise or breathing. But it I do, I immediately jolt awake. How long does this last?! I need rest!

in a few weeks? the craziness will continue to taper down as your hormones settle. it's rough though.
it's cliche, but sleep as much as you can during the day when the baby doesn't need you. i found i was craziest at night, but during the day i could rationally hand off the baby to someone and nap for even just 40 minutes. it wasn't great sleep, but several short naps each day and i could function a bit better.
it's hard. so hard. we've all been there. it does get better though.

Complete insanity ended for me right at two weeks. Flare ups still occur;)
You absolutely need to sleep--if night isn't working for you, how about during the day when your husband is awake? Can you sleep in a room away from them knowing baby is fine and they'll come grab you when needed?
