I like him, that could be a good thing! H was thrilled when he joined the show because he had seen him before and liked him.
I was hoping for a woman, but since we weren't privy to the hiring decisions and don't know who turned it down or chose not to put their hat in the ring I won't nitpick.
It might be good that they're going with someone more unknown rather than a regular from the show. Less preconceived notions or expectations. He can really make it his own.
This is my exact thinking.
It's already going to be hard to follow Stewart. Following Stewart when you're already a known quantity and everyone will expect certain things would likely be a setup for failure and disappointment.

I'm going to relisten to the Daily Show podcast with him, I remember him sounding incredibly perceptive about comedy across cultures. He apparently is pretty popular outside the US.
I'm sure he'll do fine. It will be hard for us oldies, though. Comedy is very generational, I think.
I am not totally surprised. I was listening to his DS podcast episode yesterday and I felt like it was much more in- depth and.... Reverent? than others. Like, they really wanted listeners to get to know him, which seemed odd since he isn't on very often. After hearing his stand- up I liked him more, but he made it seem in the podcast that he had no interest in leaving stand- up, so... I dunno. It definitely seemed like ( based on his descriptions ) that JS treated him like more of a peer, and not like an employee, so that also makes sense now if JS was already grooming him, so to speak.
This makes sense. The host isn't really a traditional comedian gig. You are up on your soapbox a lot, so to speak. Politics and international events have to be your passion, and John would want to make sure the torch got handed on appropriately.
I can't decide if I am more shocked by the asshole comments or the fact that a person who wants to be successful in the media would tweet such things. Either way - moron.
his segments on TDS were...un-good. maybe it was his delivery, or his timing? there wasn't much laughter from the audience either. I hope after the twitter backlash they will find someone else.
