I'm having a hard time picturing your current situation with the sink and shower, but I will tell you that I would rip that out right after buying the house. I actually have a similar vanity in my current house, and it will be getting ripped out soon. So it was a waste of money for the previous owners. It definitely looks like a cheap upgrade... If you are replacing it to be more functional for your own use, then that's different.
I would also be concerned about the building codes with the heat vent underneath.
ETA: I don't understand how the vanity you're showing here will take up less space than a pedestal sink.
I mean, I guess you could run duct work through the cabinet and then install a vent out the side.
But why would you want to do that rather than just install a pedestal sink?
Or, depending on where the vent is, I have seen open cabinets available. maybe that's an option? Like, they have shelving beneath the sink, but not cabinets/doors?
My husband does HVAC and I'm pretty sure he would have a stroke if he heard someone was planning to cover a perfectly good heating vent with a vanity.
I wouldn't spend the money on changing the pedestal sink. How about just change out the faucet fixtures to renew what you already have. Oil rubbed bronze or something.
And repaint the room or do bead board around the walls.
Eh, unless you're willing to spend more to do a more significant renovation by changing the layout of the bathroom to put the sink on a different wall, or moving the air vent, then I would just leave things as they are. I wouldn't want to spend money to do a small update, when what needs to be done is a gut-and-overhaul.
So I have the vanity in your first post in my apartment bathroom in white. I can tell you from experience it is not super nice and I wouldn't bother replacing what you currently have with it, especially since you have a vent behind it.
