Party is 1030-1230. Are snacks and crack (auto correct trying to spell cake leaving it) acceptable? Pretzels, fruit, veggie platter, goldfish, juice, water, coffee for grown ups mini bagels and cream cheese or cream cheese sandwiches shapped like dinosaurs? It's a dino theme...
Because the party is during a meal time, I would serve lunch. I don't think it's horribly rude not to, but I do think it's the most considerate thing to do for your guests. Order some pizzas and call it a day!
I would think bagels & cream cheese plus fruit & snacks is substantial enough for lunch. At least it would be for my kids. I do think you need something more than just fruit & crackers & cake, but what you said seems enough.
If you wanted to add more - what about those dino shaped chicken nuggets? Very typical party food.
Or maybe include other kinds of cheese and lunch meat for people to make sandwiches with the bagels? Around here bagels and cream cheese is a lunch.... Or at least it was in NY. The chix nuggets I thougt of but we won't be home and I won't have a way to keep them warm.
Yeah full size bagels and cream cheese with fruit would be enough for an adult lunch I think. Maybe just bump up the bagel size and the rest sounds fine to me.

Platter w/ different bagels, different spreads and lox, whitefish? If people will eat the lox & whitefish. Here, they do. But I have 4 synagogues w/in walking distance.

I would definitely serve lunch, but I agree with most that bagels with choice of cream cheese or lunch meat is plenty. Around here the thing I'd add to round it out would be pasta salad, if you're looking for another easy option that you don't need to keep warm!
