And now I'm sharing with the class because I know you guys care so much.
I'm not running the full Colfax Marathon on my birthday. Since I got into MCM, I'd like to put my focus there, and I'm not sure I really want to do more than one marathon a year, kwim? I'd much rather train for MCM to run well and use the spring/summer to just keep my base up and do some racing.
So my new Colfax plan is to do the half (or maybe 10-miler, since I've never done one) and then go catch my friend at mile 20 or so and do as much with him as he wants/needs. So I'm going to keep my long runs long (because that would be a nearly 20-mile day) just so I can be a support rather than a "man, I'm so tired from my half" partner. I've been kicking around the idea of trying to get a half PR late summer/early fall, so maybe I'll aim for that as well?
I've already changed my mind about a lot this year. It's totally allowed and sometimes makes for a better and more enjoyable outcome. Should be fun! I say go for the 10; it's a nice distance if you've never run one.
