We are getting ready to paint my daughters' shared bedroom as well as the nursery for our new baby. We have a pretty large gift card to lowes and so would like to get the paint there. Which formula would you recommend? Something washable would be great.

I just stopped into Lowe's this weekend and was surprised to see that Sherwin Williams had partnered with them and is now in their paint department. It seems like all the same colors as in their store fronts. Actually, the SW paint chip samples are a bigger size at Lowe's! (of the "essential" line of colors, at least) I believe we have used the SW duration this past year for interior and exterior with no problem.

I used Valspar once and was disappointed in how many coats it took me to cover. I've had cheaper paint cover better and I have been sticking to Behr these days.

I love, love love Valspar 2000 in Satin. I use it in all my rentals and my home and have had no complaints. It typically covers in one coat unless you are doing a drastic color change. Look for Lowes coupons to get 10 percent off, or there are some 15 of 50 codes floating around.
It's really personal preference though. I hate Olympic, but some people love it.

I've only tried valspar from Lowes. It was only okay. Personally, I would buy the paint else where. I could think of a million different ways to use that gift card up besides paint.

I thought that it was just the HGTV line that was at Lowes. If so, avoid it like the plague...it kind of sucks.

I was in two different Lowe's and saw Sherwin Williams sample colors. I even looked at them and saw "functional gray" and other popular SW colors. I'm not sure what types of paint they are selling, for example, I'm not sure they have the "duration" line. Or if they are selling a different, possible cheaper, line of SW paints at Lowe's.

I didn't think to check when I was at Lowes today (I was only outside), but I have seen the commercials for the HGTV line at Lowes. Duration and Emerald are great, and I highly recommend them both, but I haven't seen/read anything indicating they are at Lowes. I am not a fan of Valspar or Olympic, but I have never used the one that littlemisssunshine recommended.

That is a good point.... I was assuming that they would have the duration and emerald lines at Lowe's since the have SW but I shouldn't have.

WTH, Valspar? People actually recommend this? Valspar is terrible paint. The WORST three paints I have ever used have been Valspar, Sears, and Glidden.
I wouldn't normally get paint there but with a store credit and a very large gift card I think we'll be able to get almost all of the odds and ends we need at lowes for our new house.
This room is sort of transitional right now as we are waiting to see if our new baby is a boy or a girl before making more permanent room-sharing decisions. I expect to be repainting it in a year or two.

And I think Glidden was total crap.
Valspar went on easy with 2 coats and I love the colors.
