The past 2 nights the girls have woken up in the MOTN to play. Audrey squeals like crazy- I have no clue what they are doing in there to have so much fun- they only have books and dolls/stuffed animals in their room. When they are wild during nap time they usually take all of their clothes out of their drawers, but that hasn't been happening.
My SIL can veer into BEC territory with me sometimes but after spending a few hours with her on Saturday, I keep going over parts of our conversation and GAH. DH and his whole immediate family are competitive one uppers but she's just exhausting sometimes. I just needed to get that off my chest.
Also, were supposed to have outdoor family photos taken on Friday morning and the forecast is calling for rain. What have you guys done when this happens? Have you tried to find an indoor setting? Or just immediately rescheduled?
After going off intermittently all night (including a 3am visit from the fire department) our smoke detectors have now been beeping for 10min. Not even cutting power to the whole house isn't working fireman said it was the prewired security system and ADT won't come out but says its not their problem since we aren't members.
Cut the wires. That is what I had to do. They were constantly going off. I then just put regular smoke detectors with batteries.
I just went barging into a conference room thinking I had a meeting in there at 9am. I didn't, it isn't until 9:30. Opsss.
I could have sworn that last night when I checked the weather forecast for today it was supposed to be 50 and sunny... I didn't expect to wake up to another dusting of snow.
I woke up to over a foot of snow. When I left work last night at 11 pm, it wasn't even snowing. WTF. The next 2 days are supposed to be in the 50s and 60s, too.
I have decided we need shades for the kitchen and laundry room windows (even though we have a decent size backyard and 3 vacant wooded lots behind us). I'm debating about just ordering them and not telling H until they get here, because he will hem and haw and think they'll look bad, then like them once they're up.
Also, does anyone know when C&B has a furniture sale or sends out coupons that can be used on furniture? I remember getting one in the fall. Maybe sometime soon?
I don't think I'm going to have @pnkybrwstr luck with a due date baby but I'm holding out hope for sjh722!
My bosses (65 year old men) are freaking out about me being here but otherwise, smooth sailing!
I went to a client's house last night to present an offer and she was like, "So, when are you due again? Are you having a scheduled c-section or something?" When you say, "Oh, tomorrow" people give you a look like they're afraid amniotic fluid will get all over their floor.
I'm trying to be zen about not having a baby yet. I will report back if it's still working around, say, noon, LOL. Aside from avoiding the office (because I can't handle belly touching and WHY ARE YOU NOT HAVING A BABY), I'm fine. Doing laundry, I have organized 3 drawers, cleaned the kitchen, and I am shopping for shades. Because that's obviously an urgent need, haha.
E refuses to sleep. I don't get it. He's been back in the crib for a half hour and he's already wide awake again. I can't not sleep anymore, I'm seriously going crazy! Why won't he sleep!
Hugs @awinter - you really are doing such an amazing job!
I'm trying to stick out naps in the same room because separate rooms just isn't an option in our house, but it also makes me sad when one is just trying to sleep. The usual offender is currently downstairs with me though because the other just looked so peaceful!

DH took the batteries out of every single one and so far we are good. I'll ask if he noticed they were wired in too - thanks!
Eta - he said they are wired in with back up batteries... Is that what you had?
@awinter, I was going to suggest this maybe as well. I don't have twins but I've always had two kids sharing a room, except when sleep training. I found it impossible, not nearly impossible just flat out impossible, to try and do any sort of CIO without disrupting the other kid to the point where it wasn't worth it.
Hugs, it sounds like you had a hard night.
I just don't have anywhere to separate them I'm also wondering if it was worse having H in there with them than if he had just left. Ugh, I don't know. After a while he did leave and that seemed to actually be better than him in trying to comfort them like we did with J.
What happens if you both go in but offer non-nursing comfort?
Does J have his own room? Does he sleep through the crying (I know some kids won't but some kids sleep like rocks once they're out)? If so, could you put one girl with him for a while while they learn to sleep?

I was thinking maybe H and I could both try non nursing comfort and see what that does. J would definitely wake up if they were in with him. He already did wake up once during it. He's too sensitive and tuned in to them. Anytime they are upset he is the first to want to help them.
Anyone else spend like crazy while on Mat leave? I've been online shopping like it's my job. I finally have time to realize what things around the house need replacing.
Ie- ooh, curtains are on sale, I've wanted new ones for a while *submits order*
Now imagine that scenario with new bath towels, closet organization, curling iron, makeup, grill cover, bike helmets, throw blanket, polo shirts for DH, etc. (That was all last week...)

Yep they had batteries and wires and for some reason they always were going off. Even when I took out the batteries. I felt so bad because they were constantly going off while at work and I would find my dog huddled in a corner shaking when I got home because that high pitch noise is just so horrible for animals.

I make at least one Amazon order a day, but other than that, I've been pretty good.
I'm pretty sure I need some new pants, but I need to try those on. I may order like 10 pair from Nordstrom though and return most of them since my Nordstrom has a really shitty plus size section.

Yes! I'm glad I listened to @littlemoxie and budget for that.
I feel like having a baby has turned me into a hippy. I have been to Natural Grocery twice for supplements and I bought some of those wool dryer balls. Hopefully that will do for now.
We're at the ped. J woke up with goopy but not red eyes. He's been sick off and on for about the last 2 weeks. Yet another double ear infection, that we didn't catch because he doesn't give any of the usual signs, that turned into pink eye. I have missed so much work since January, it's ridiculous.
Today is my last day the get my team's TAT under the goal. We are .42 days away from meeting the goal. I don't think it's feasible and I'm sad. We tried so hard and were on target but got a ton of really late stuff in last week which messed with the numbers.
My honey-do list is growing for dh and there aren't enough weekends to get it all done.
I noticed cobwebs in the corners of a few rooms last night and decided we are living in filth. Going to clean those up and THEN hire for a deep cleaning, since it's my bff's mom.
That ML post is crazy. My sister made a meme out of one of the crying pictures of C when he was 7mo (a la @this and the Thanksgiving picture - that was you, right?). I keep it on my phone to give me a little pick me up because it's fucking hilarious. It says, "Waking up and regretting those last few drinks."
I thought about it and I would give zero fucks if someone gave me a dirty look while I used WIC checks at the supermarket. I routinely have a toddler eating a pouch or holding a balloon as I check out anyway. Come at me, bro.
There are three different people who are relying on me to tell them what to do today. Only one of them is actually correct that I have the ability to do so. The other two will be disappointed for sure. I'm not Olivia Pope. Most problems can't be solved in 42 minutes people!
The hotel that I'm checking into MONDAY MORNING called and cancelled my reservation. Now my coworker and I are scrambling to re-book, re-do our travel orders, and get them approved so we can get our airline tickets.
My coworker's somehow didn't get cancelled, but with only 1 rental car, we don't have a choice.
I appreciate that @this got a who are you? From AR on ML. Don't go after our people and expect help later!
#cryingbabiesarefunny
(Also kidding of course we help all new moms who need it, regardless of just you wait)
Also lololololololxforever @ "I don't know what I did to cause this kind of reaction."
Being told I'm overreacting by that particular poster = priceless. I was rolling laughing.
ETA: Also I'm kind of jealous of the people who think posting a video like that is crappy. It means they still have some good left in them. All of my goodness was gone by like week three.
I love your responses. Also I am super glad I edited out ds screaming when I videotaped him rolling over for the first time and posted it to FB or else this thread would have totally been about me. We always used to joke ds did his best work fussy.
Embarrassing home improvement question - I bought a new replacement shower head and want to install it or pay someone to do it. My expertise level could be described as "probably could assemble IKEA furniture with only one bout of crying". Attempt myself or call someone? I am very willing to throw $$ at problems to avoid disasters.
This is why I thank the sweet heavens that my H is handy. I would totally have to pay someone to do it otherwise. I'm not capable of much. lol

Hire someone. I'm always willing to pay for the peace of mind I didn't fuck something up.
@vicmo, I have a similar expertise level and was able to replace a showerhead with less than approximately 10 four letter words. Okay, maybe 15. Or 20. I forget. Either way, the shower head is on and works great. So there's hope?
