Have runners dealt with tendinitis in your big toe/upper foot area?
I have been having pain in the area on and off for a month. It was just a minor annoyance and I never thought much of it until it flared up badly about a week ago. I am currently unable to wear shoes other than flip flops and can hardly put weight on the foot. X rays were negative for any bone fracture so I was referred to physio which I start tomorrow. The general consensus seems to be tendinitis or ligament damage.
I'm sure I will find out more tomorrow but have any of you dealt with this? if so, how long did it take you to recover and start running again? I run daily...not far, about 5km and feel completely lost without it. lol. I had just begun training for a tri so I guess this will force me to focus on swimming which is the silver lining, I suppose. It hurts to even peddle a bike

I have had tendinitis in my upper foot area plus a bunch of other places, although in my foot it wasn't nearly as bad as yours. Honestly, the best advice is just to rest as much as you possibly can. Being super strict about everything including walking as little as possible sucks while you're doing it, but it's going to get you healthy faster. Ice as well, and for me a week or two of Celebrex is often really helpful with tendinitis specifically (although Ithink that's Rx in the US, so obviously it'll be up to your doctor). Good luck!

Sometimes you need an MRI to rule out fractures in the foot. If you don't see any improvements in a few days with rest and NSAID's I'd probably try and pursue further testing to rule out a fracture completely. Good luck!
