My Dad has been havign some hip issues for a long time. Weeks ago, he told me he was going to have hip replacement surgery. I really wanted to ask off to drive down there....but things were up in the air regardng our new hires for that week so I wanted to see how it played out.
Work is really stressful right now due to several factors out of my control. There is no way they'd approve me to go down to be there with him right now.
Of couse, Dad said it was TOTALLY fine...that he didn't want a lot of people down there...my brother was coming....Mom would be there, etc. But I just can't shake this feeling of not being able to go. I'm coming down the Friday before to spend the night so, as I told Dad, we could "pre-party" before surgery.
Anyway, I've got to get back to the craziness....but any hair pats or prayers would be reeally appreciative. I have the sadz

I'm sorry. It is hard when work puts constraints on life. Glad you can go down this weekend, and maybe you can go a weekend afterwards to help. Honestly for the surgery itself he will have so much help already, don't feel guilty.

I'm sorry
Will you have a chance to go see him after? My mom had a hip replacement a few years ago and it was a few weeks before she was cleared to leave the house, so having some visitors afterward might be nice for him. Or, if you go once he is able to move a little bit, you could take him out of the house which he'd probably really appreciate.
I'm sorry, hugs and hair pats for you. I'm sure your dad understands and will appreciate you coming down beforehand. I hope work eases up for you soon.
I'm so sorry it's hard when you can't be there for family, especially when it's an undesirable cause like work. Could you Skype them from the waiting room to give your quick support?
I'm hoping to with my brother. He'll have his i-phone on him, I know. I could definitely arrnage that with him beforehand.

I want to do that. Working to schedule that.
Thanks all for thr hugs and hair pats. He is my best friend so that just makes this especially hard.
I completely understand. My dad has had several surgeries over the years, and I've only been available for a few of them. It is hard to support your family when you have to work. Fortunately, my dad has been very understanding, and my stepmom has always been available, so he's never alone.

((hugs)) and lots of prayers. I'm sorry you can't go for the actual surgery. Hoping you can Skype and go down sometime afterwards. Prayers that works slows down too.
I'm sorry that you won't be able to be there. Sounds like he will be in good hands with your mom and brother, but I totally understand being disappointed and worrried. Hugs.
