Yes that was me! I just got the email about the cancellation.
We regret to inform you that the 2015 IRONMAN® 70.3® Princeton triathlon will not take place this September. IRONMAN is responsible for securing a race course which meets the high standards of our brand and provides our athletes an unparalleled race experience. Race courses must also be approved by the local authorities. Unfortunately, after numerous attempts, we were not granted the necessary approvals for the bike course.
That race lasted all of 1 year. I think there were a lot of complaints about how many turns there were on the bike course so I imagine they were trying to change it. Its really too bad - I thought it was a great race.

Interesting. I'm sure registration was already up and running (I remember signing up for 2014 Timberman like 9 months before the race), so I sure hope they give everyone full refunds. At least there is still time for folks to enter other, similar time-of-year events and not be totally up a creek without a race.

No they actually kept pushing back the registration date so it never opened!
After this all happened yesterday my Facebook feed exploded about it. A lot of people are blaming WTC and saying some not very nice things about the organization.

Well that at least makes things a lot tidier that they never accepted registrations.
WTC has had a rough year, with low lights such as IM Lake Tahoe's cancellation and their terrible and tone deaf handling of it. There's a guy in my club who reps for Challenge races, and I'm thinking they're going to make major headway during WTC's stumbles. Challenge Poconos is 8/16, only a month or so earlier, and they are pushing it hard in the wake of Princeton's cancellation.
