I just got accepted to the Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project, summer institute in New York City! I'm so excited! I've wanted to do this for years!
And now I'm going to complain... I can't decide if I want to make this Sunday my last day of work or keep going. I wish I had some idea of when he's going to come out. If he's late, I don't want to waste my leave just hanging around, but I'm also really tired and just done with work. My job is too physically demanding at this point.
Are you getting STD benefits for your leave? They may not count this time against your maternity leave if your doctor writes you out. I found this out way too late :-)
I don't know what STD benefits are? Also, my concern is a lot more about money than anything. I have very little PTO right now and can't really afford to take off much more than what I'm already taking. I want to use that time with the baby, not just hanging around waiting for him.

Short term disability.
I worked up until I went into labor. I wanted to save as much of my time for when he was actually here as I could.

Oh, duh. Sadly, no. My company literally just started offering this like two weeks ago and I'm not eligible due to my "pre-existing condition." Sigh.

On the 'boo' side - we decided we had to cancel a trip to Ireland to visit an expat friend. We're just too overwhelmed with all the stuff that has to be done post my FILs funeral and haven't had a moment to do anything much since he died. We want time to process it all and get paperwork done (plus sleep as neither of us are sleeping).
On the positive side - I got to design a kitchen today. We are going to move in with my MIL (owns a massive for London, 5-bedroom home with 1970s fixtures), so we're redoing the kitchen, bathroom, front door, window & carpets/flooring (and eventually adding another bathroom). I went with my MIL to a kitchen store and we picked out everything we wanted (and it was everything I wanted, but MIL is okay with my taste as she loves my current kitchen). It's going to be awesome (shaker antique oak).
@cse1960 - Can you please post your breakfast casserole recipe again? I thought I had saved it, but I didn't.
Easy peasy!
Preheat oven to 350 Butter a 9/13 inch pan (I prefer glass, it seems to cook better)
One tube of bulk sausage, any flavor (I prefer mild; dh likes maple). Brown this into little bits. spread it out in the bottom of the pan. two cups (or more, if you like potatoes) of shredded frozen potatoes, plain- spread these out on top of the sausage. (dh is low carbing lately; leaving out the potatoes does no harm, shorten cooking time by ten minutes or so) two cups (or more) of shredded sharp cheddar on top of the potatoes; I like to add in a little mozzarella too. Add more cheese if you like cheese, no harm. scramble up twelve raw eggs, and pour the raw eggs on top of the cheese.
Without the potatoes, bake about 40 minutes or so; with the potatoes, add another ten minus.
I just made this Sunday, and dh and I have had it two mornings in a row this week. It keeps very well in the fridge, and with a handful of berries and some milk you have a great breakfast.
Thank you! I've been making a breakfast casserole every weekend, then freezing portions and bringing to work in the mornings. I needed to change up my usual one, and this will fit the bill perfectly!

I've considered switching out the sausage with crumbled bacon, but have not done it.
This is my go-to with bacon. You'll have to try it sometime. It's fantastic!
