I used to be a regular on S&B, and have decided to come back after taking a hiatus from GBCN. I thought I would also check out this board to get some support/feedback and learn from others during my pregnancy. So, hello!
A little about me:
I'm 29 years old, DH is 32 (he's turning 33 in April, I'm turning 30 in May). I'm 23.5 weeks along (24 weeks Friday). My due date is July 24th, and officially we are "team green". Un-officially, we do know the sex, but are keeping it a secret and doing a surprise gender reveal at my baby shower in May. I wanted to avoid a lot of blue or pink clothing gifts, and since no one attending the shower even knows there will be a reveal, I think it'll be extra fun. Especially for our moms!
I left my job in November, and have been working towards starting a business venture with a good friend/client of mine, and we got pretty close to securing an investor a couple times, but we are still working on it. Although that sucks, I've went back to freelancing which is what I have done for the last 8 years (minus the 2 years where I worked for a company full time). Although I miss aspects of my job, especially the travel, I am so much happier with my decision.
It took a little over a year to get pregnant, which at first of course didn't bother me but definitely made me worry the longer it was taking. I was thisclose to starting fertility drugs (clomid). Literally, I had the prescription filled, and was going to wait until we returned from a vacation to start taking it. After coming back from our trip to Niagara Falls, I took a pregnancy test just to "be sure" before taking the pills, and low and behold I was pregnant! So that was in November, which was pretty amazing - both starting back to my freelance gig full time and finding out that news in the same month!
So far pregnancy is pretty good - I see a midwife practice with 4 midwives on staff, and will be delivering in the birthing wing of our local hospital which they are affiliated with. I'm planning to do a natural/unmedicated labor and birth, as long as everything is healthy for me and the baby. The beginning of pregnancy was a little rough. I finally stopped getting daily morning sickness at about 17 weeks, and since then I feel pretty good, although I'm starting to have trouble sleeping at night. Yay! haha.
I'm not sure what else to include in my intro but I'll be poking around here and participating in the threads. But happy to answer anything too.
Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing this experience!
