I collected that stuff for awhile, I still have most of it. The house, the school, the garage, and I think the hospital. I don't really have a good reason to hang on to it since I don't have kids! But I am, anyway.
I think the new people are cuter (and I like that they are kinda soft, I keep walking on them), but the sets were much nicer and had better detail then.
And the Playmobil stuff is amazing. My ILs brought some for L to use that both my husband AND his sister used and they look like they came out of the store brand new yesterday. No plastic toy these days would hold up for 35 years!

So my MIL is not the only weirdo who keeps that stuff? She has so many toys, it is ridiculous. My mom couldn't get rid of it fast enough, I'm pretty sure she decided one day "ok, you guys are too old for this, trash trash trash".
I had completely forgotten about the Sesame Street Clubhouse and just had a nostalgia explosion!! I remembered having the little house but had forgotten the Sesame Street one. The trapdoor was endlessly entertaining.

The only toys my mom kept were the Little People sets, and I can't wait to break them out. We had the house, a gas station, I think maybe the parking garage, the bus, and the zoo, that I can remember.
Hmm, I was thinking of finally getting rid of DSs (newish) LP sets, but what I'm reading here is that I should hang on to them for 30 years for my grandkids?

We have my husband's old ones, School bus, camper w/ pool, and a few of the Sesame Street pieces - Big Bird, Ernie, Gordon, Olivia, and a mail truck. Lots of random stuff too, like a TV.
My brother and I had the plane, the bus and the airport(which also came with a helicopter). My parents still have all of it, and now my nephews play with them. They love them, and generally go for the plane and bus first out of everything.
ETA: OH and a ramp with an actual conveyor you turned by crank to dump people into the airplane. Like a little moving sidewalk, haha.
The little garage door on the firehouse was so cool, and the umbrella for that cafe table was mounted on a spring – I remember sproinging it back and forth.

It's weird how it comes back to you.
Yes! And turning the handle on the top of the firehall would make a "siren" noise. I dont remember that connecting piece at the back though.
