Or other theme parks with character walking around.
Do they think it's really the character or do they know it's a person in a costume? And how old is your child?
This question brought to you by my 5 year old telling me that goofy is just a guy wearing a goofy suit. It made me sad that he already knows it isn't real! Lol
My kids are 6 and 7 now but they have known for a couple years that those are people dressed up.
ETA: Although Santa brings gifts and my kids believe in Santa, they know that the Easter bunny is not real. Telling them that may have helped them figure out that the characters are people dressed up also.
My kids (3.5) think all the "fuzzy" costumed people are costumes...but the "face characters" princesses and such are real haha!
This is what I think my 6 year old thinks. 3.5 year old, I'm not sure. Likely the same because I have told them it's a costumed person when they were scared.
I don't know. We went in December right after my daughter turned 4. She was very weary of any character that couldn't talk to her--she just wanted to wave and maybe give them a high 5. She loved the princesses because they could interact. Whether she thought one was real and the others weren't I don't know. She does believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.
DD was almost 5 when we went to Disney. She knew they were people dressed up. I feel like we explained that to her when she was around 3ish, because she's pretty much always been afraid of them.
Even at 7, she wouldn't go up to the Easter bunny that was walking around the mall a few weeks ago. Although, to be fair, this particular bunny is pretty creepy.
DD has always been afraid and DS has usually been okay. I laughed so hard when we took them to Disney last year (he was 5.5) and he looked around and said, "Mom, this whole place is just fantasy." It doesn't matter to DD if they are real or fake, she is afraid. He is just logical about it. And why is the Easter bunny almost always creepy???
So I asked about the princesses and he was absolutely 100% appalled that I would dare suggest his beloved Rapunzel wasn't really her. So, fuzzies are fake and princesses are real lol
