Today we get a note home saying they're going to be sending home homework. It's optional...but they get rewarded in front of everyone when they turn it back in. First the junk food now this. Ugh.
Not cool. I would consider emailing the teacher and addressing your concerns. If it doesn't change or have a legit explanation I would call the director.
Wait, isn't this just preschool?! And the regular teacher doesn't give homework?
Yes preschool. No regular teacher doesn't give homework. My kid would not be there if she did. At this point it's just for a few weeks (with April vacation in the mix) so I'm not sure if it's going to be my hill to die especially since I have a weird kid that actually likes doing worksheets. But still...god she sucks.
Honestly, it shouldn't even be a battle. If this was happening at my preschool, I'd call & meet w/ the director immediately and expect to have it taken care of that day. I can't imagine the director thinks it's a good idea, right?!

It's a public school not a private one.
That makes it better? So just replace director with principle. There's still someone above the teacher wether it's a private or public school
Is this an inclusive class or an Aba class? Maybe the teacher is obsessing over the reward aspect of aba? im just baffled by rewarding an optional worksheet in preschool?
I'm getting annoyed because our preschool has been sending projects home, don't they realize I've got 2 kids and we are trying to move!! But I just fake them the night before they're due.
It's an inclusion classroom. It's mostly typical kids-I want to say there's only three with special needs?
We get projects a few times a year with dds class. They don't bother me. This bothers me because it's math worksheets. So inappropriate.
I ended up sending a note in DS's backpack about it before I ran to the principal. I didn't get a response but they only check them towards the end of the day. We will see what happens.
