My husband and I went to Bangkok in December 2011. We both had Hep A vaccinations and did an oral dose of Typhoid vaccine. I am having trouble getting a definitive answer from my doctor's office so I'm going to turn to the experts. Does anyone know if I need to get the Hep A vaccines again? I am traveling to Bangkok and Hong Kong in June. From what I'm reading it looks like I should be covered, but I'm not certain.
Did you get all the doses, or just one? I had the combined A/B/C vaccine and needed 3 doses. If I hadn't gotten them all, I would have needed to start them over to be protected, I think.
I'd call a travel clinic in your area to be sure, however.

We did the Hep A vaccine for a trip to Asia last year. My understanding was that it's a one time thing, as long as you get the follow up dose (which we did about 4-6 months later, I think).
You should still be covered. Good that you got the oral typhoid vaccine! That one is good for five years instead of the three years you get with the injection.
kaylie, wait, really!? I didn't know that! I was totally going to get that again!
I was just in to renew mine today because I got the injection three and a half years ago, so I just missed the window. Definitely confirm with your doctor since it's possible to you took a different version, but this time around I'm taking one pill every other day for eight days (four pills total) and I'll be good for five years.
Did you get the booster for Hep A? I believe Hep A requires a booster 6-12 months after the first one. I think you get 10 years of immunity then. If you don't get the booster, I'm not sure how long the one dose lasts.

According to the NHS (I totally poach the UK health system for reliable online medical info):
"[The first injection] will protect you against hepatitis A for about a year. A booster dose, given six to 12 months after the first dose, will protect you for at least 20 years."
