Yes and it has come in handy quite a few times over the past 6 months, like when I was stuck in Chicago in May and needed to look at alternate routes to get to CT. It will also be handy the next 2 weeks while we are on vacation at our camp with no internet access.
Nope. I use my phone the text and call. Don't really need it for anything else. I can use my Kindle for anything else I need, and usually have it with me anyway.
I went with SS. I drove over my phone so a smart phone was purchased, but I flat out reuse to pay for/give our Son of a #*)$%*%$$% b!tch company even one extra dime for the data plan.
So I have one, but it is used for calls and txts only. They even charge us to get our voice mail ($.30 connect fee and $.30 ever 30 seconds, billed in only minute increments) so I don't even use it for that.
My phone is smarter than I am. I don't know if that makes it a smart phone or just a "smarter than its owner" phone since there's really not a lot of competition there sometimes.

H and I weren't sure about getting smartphones because of the price, but we decided to go with cricket when our att plan was up. We both got smartphones with unlimited talk/text/data and every month the bill is exactly $112.13. I loooove my droid.
I hate apple products, so I would never get an i-anything.

I used to, but I got rid of it because I didn't want to be THAT connected to everything all the time. Now I frequently just leave my phone at home and it is very liberating.
