So help me, captainobvious, if those loons start showing up over here...
*shakes cane*
I want a real, honest to god, board war.
BRING IT!
I'm stocking up on werthers for energy.
But pixy, you forget - in order to have a decent, honest to god board war, both sides must have at least a shred of intelligence. I don't think a board devoted to bizarre slash homoerotic fanfic about a boy band for teenagers is going to fit that bill.
But if we must, I'll go dig out the chain mail from the back room.
Did I miss the explanation of what an ass baby is?
When a man gets pregnant and has a baby, it comes out of his ass.
This sounds like something my 3 year old would think. She also thinks that when she grows up she can marry my H and that our cat that died last year will come back and visit her, so she's a little hazy on how real life works.
I could totally see that being the reaction not having all the info. That being said, I think the comment about sexual deviants and homophobes to be a bit much.
If all the info includes specifics on ass babies, I prefer my blissful ignorance and uncool status.
I am aware that shipping Larry is a thing, but I'm not sure there is anything that could help me understand that particular board.
There is nothing to understand about "that particular board." It was created for the people that ship Larry can go and post about anything about Larry or the band, etc.
Not that hard to get. Clearly labeled the titlted and all. Especially since you said you know shipping Larry is a thing.

I'm really curious about what "all the info" and "basic facts" are.
ETA: I mean, are you or are you NOT grown adult women casting two heterosexual men in homoerotic fanfic?
Actually from my understanding, last I checked (I don't really read the fanfic) there is only one person over there who writes. Most of the other is written by other people and links and stuff might be shared and or recommended.
The "casting" - I don't see your issue? It is fanfic which means fan fiction which means fiction written by fans so you can write a story about anything really. Also fanfic is nothing new. There is a lot of fanfic out in the world about all kinds of people.
I don't think the sexuality of the material has any relevance. That's just me.
Erotic (whether gay or heterosexual) fanfic about actual real live people is creepy, especially when they look like teenagers.
Now I feel creepy because I didn't specify. The fan fic stuff I've read involved characters from shows, movies, comics and that isn't strange to me. Another plot line really, it wasn't actual people like "Justin Timberlake said coyly to JC Chasez..." lol.

Also to have an decent board war there must be a level of knowledge on both sides about the material being argued about.
"I give zero fucks about nest people. I want none of their assholishness harshing my Louis buzz, so I have no interest in reading their judgemental thread. I just wanted to say how sorry I am for their children if they have any. Lololol. For srs who wants a mom who doesn't know how to have fun and is a judgemental asshat?"
They've moved on from "I feel sorry for your husbands" to children.
If being fun means ass babies, I don't ever want to be fun.
Also, is that the equivalent of "I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom!"?
I felt real shame over my sort-of crush on Louis from 1D and I think I'm only, like, six years older than him. It doesn't really matter anymore, though, because I am cured. All set now. Thanks, weirdo 1D board!
You can love your OneDirection stuff. You just can't, you know, love your OneDirection stuff.

So what am I missing? I'd really like to know. I'm seeing extreme fan fiction being written that for all intents and purposes really is sexually deviant (you can look that up if you need to, I'll wait), and an unhealthy level of attraction being shown for a band. I can also say that there are a few people on other boards that left TB because they were extremely uncomfortable with the level of intensity that was shown for 1D.

An entire page full of multi-page threads about how hot they are and twenty-two pages' worth of slash fanfic links tells us alllllll we need to know. lol.

Yeah so I know shipping Larry is a thing, but I am surprised at the depth, intensity, quantity and demographics associated with that particular board and it's shipping.
Also, knowing Larry is a thing =/= knowing ass babies is a thing anyone is interested in reading about. Or that it's popular among people who are probably my peers. I thought it was something teenage girls-early 20s were into.
The more you know, though! I can't wait to see what replaces this on my "weirdest things I've learned on the Internet" list.
Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! I know what shipping means! Here's the UD version:
shipping A term used to describe fan fictions that take previously created characters and put them as a pair. It usually refers to romantic relationships, but it can refer platonic ones as well. (Just think of "shipping" as short for "relationSHIP".) It generally uses the initials of the characters shipped or a combination of the names, though this is not a rule.
AMshipping AM-shipping AM shipping Ash & Misty shipping Ashistyshipping
I learned about it when people kept talking about "shipping" Carol and Daryl

Define extreme. What is making it extreme to you? You do realize that it is erotica akin to 50 Shades so we all know people have different levels of comfort in regards to sex. In plain English - some people are more vanilla than others.
So is because it is extreme to you, you call it sexually deviant? So you are the measure of what is deviant and what is not? Or are you using some other standard to define it?
What is "an unhealthy attraction?" Again, do we have to define this based on your comfort level? Having a board or place to discuss something people have in common is a foreign idea to you? Just has to be something you like or you feel comfortable talking about?
There was a board on TB that was created for the 1D posts. So, I highly doubt anyone left for that reason. I mean no one is forced to participate. You just don't click the board if you don't want to be bothered. Not that hard.
So what is sexually deviant? Do you believe all fanfic is? Cause this wasn't created by that board. This is something that has been around. What is extreme about it?

That's how I learned about it too! Daryl and Carol. Lol.
I think I'd heard about it before, like maybe when people said they were Team Edward or something, but last year when I found out people shipped Daryl and Carol, I was like wtf does that even mean? And then when I found out, I was still sort of confused because I never saw them as romantic.
