What age van I show my kids the original trilogy? DS is 5 and I fell like he would love it.
I grinned like a crazy person when Han was shown.
Ollie is 3.5 and he loves it. He also loves the clone wars cartoons and the rebel force cartoon on Disney. But he's not really one to get scared of things, he just needs us to fast forward when people yell at each other because it hurts his feelings. Lol.
He does not know anything about movies 1, 2, and 3 and we're going to keep it that way.

David watched it at four. He loved it. He was fine with the first three.
We still haven't shown him the last one when Anakin turns into Darth Vader (episode 3). I think he's ready now, though. (He's 6).
I wouldn't say he necessarily scares easily but he has a TRIGGER (lol). When good guys turn bad, it really upsets him. Well, it did. I think he'd be okay with it now. I mean, you know your child.
DH and DS are so excited that DH picked up DS early from school so they could go ride star tours today. We also watched Return of the Jedi two nights ago and plan to re watch the entire series (yes, we have all the movies) a few times.

The new trailer is amazing! I'm not really even a big fan , but my daughter gasped when she saw the death star and when she saw Hahn Solo and Chewey, she cheered. So yeah, I'm excited for December.
eta: she's 4.5 now. Seen all of the movies. 3 is probably her favorite. She is a very emotional person. She gets really sad when Anakin falls in the lava, but she loves the twin part right after that. So far it's nit been traumatic.
We've been out all day and finally sat down to watch it. OMG! H and I both yelped when Hans Solo showed up. I cannot wait for this movie! I grew up on these films just as much as my husband and we are both so excited for the reboot.
I also really appreciate the discussion of how old your kids were when you let them watch the movies. DS1 is 3.5 and we are struggling with what age is appropriate to introduce them to him.
ETA: Also, after the utter awfulness of the prequels, I'm having a reeeeeeally hard time working up the excitement about the new movie. I'm trying really hard, but then Jar Jar Binks sneaks into my thoughts and I get depressed again.
I have faith in JJ Abrams.
And in the fact that George Lucas is no longer involved.
I've only made it this far but I had to quote/post - I'm so excited for this movie! My dad had me and my two younger brothers grow up with Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Bond.
My brothers, and now DS, are obsessed with legos and I love to do them (it's very cathartic) with DS. We went to LEGOLAND at MOA and I saw a Death Star lego and just about died! I want to get it so our whole family can build it!
