My mom and I always do a spa day. My birthday is also in May, so this is what we "get" for each other. We do a sauna, facial, and mani/pedis, then follow up with an early dinner. I wish we thought to do this years ago!

We had a faily picture taken for her, we tried to do it last year and couldn't get it together in time. We just had the pictures done last week, got at least a good frameable one but I don't have them all yet. It was tough with 14 people/ 5 of them young kids!
I'm here too. They just moved into a new house, so maybe something for the home? That seems lame though and more like for both my parents when it should be just for my mama.

Tickets at some point to see that little percussion group that's viral on FB playing Ozzy and Zeppelin. She really wants to see them live and donate to them since it's a free program for kids ages 7-12. They require no musical ability and are not a gifted program. They also play all genres and teach the kids all the instruments. We'll do dinner too. They aren't far from us.
We're taking my mom to the beach either Mother's Day weekend or the weekend after. I always leave MIL up to H and always end up scrambling to figure out something last minute for her. I should probably just order something.
I had an idea, but don't know if it's a dumb one. My parents just moved, and they have a nice backyard, but the plants/garden need some TLC. I was thinking about paying for a gardener to come and do some sort of consultation to see which plants are salvageable and to id them, and to provide some suggestions.

Is that a stupid mom's day gift?
I'm bad at this.
No that would be awesome coming from someone who used to work in a greenhouse, but has a yard full of weeds and plants that need to be cleared and figured out, especially since the previous owner set part of the yard on fire as a lovely parting gift. I'm pretty sure we have a bed of annuals that needs to be taken out and replanted, two bushes that will never fit the yard, two more dead ones, and some random bulbs. You may need to help replant some stuff in the end, but I can't see your family not turning this into a fun day.
Another idea, if she doesn't have something is a small jewelry box for her nightstand to take off the stuff she forgets. I do that all the time and end up with a floor full of jewelry (but I always over accessorize) that I end up stepping on in bare feet. Also, do you have something like this that you could take her to or donate to in her name? My Mom found out about these kids and heard on our news that 4 million hits = almost no donations and a site crash while the kids play in a building that rarely has heat (notice the winter coats on a few), has no air, is perpetually for sale, and requires no musical ability or crazy expense for parents for the kids to join. She wants to see them and donate. I love the little guy in the fedora. The community heavily supports them, but not enough for a new practice space since real estate is skyrocketing here.
She lost some weight and needed new bras- so I sent her a couple of her Wacoal favorites since they don't sell them near where she lives and she loves them. I also sent her some shapewear with padded butts since she was complaining how flat her ass is these days. They fit funny, like she had 4 cheeks, but she got a good laugh out of them. Not sure how I'm going to top that.

This year I have no clue. My mom is at her summer home in the south and I don't think she'll be back for Mother's Day. I guess I'll send her something and then take her out when she's home. No clue what to buy for her....
She just told me she would like some Kate Spade gold earrings. I bought them for myself yesterday. I'm just going to save them for her now. I was going to order her a bracelet with gps coordinates of DS. I think she would really like that. She is all about the grandson lol
