L is still in her crib, but we're moving her over to a bed in a couple weeks. here are my questions.
A) would you all advise a toddler bed, or just straight to a twin with some rails? my inclination is to go to a twin because it's cheaper.
B) the plan is for me to take her out in the morning and the husband to do a changeover quickly while we're out so that she naps in her new big girl bed. we'll make a big whoop-dee-do about it. any other suggestions?
C) do you like this fabric? L's walls are two shades of bright blue and her furniture is white. i was thinking i'd use it to make a duvet. i know that owls are so over or whatever, but i don't care.
how about these for a coordinating pillow?
D) do you think i can make a duvet cover? i can do this. yes. i can. i think.
I would go straight to a twin - less transitioning. DD's crib converts to either a toddler bed or a full size bed. We're cheap and her room is small, so we're going to do the toddler bed first. It's on our to-do list for tonight, actually!
Your plan sounds great.
I like all of the fabrics and I'm impressed that you will be making her duvets and pillows yourself. I want PIPs when you're done!
How old is she? We switched Anna to a toddler bed before 2, and then to a twin with no rails at 2.5. With Sophia, we may go straight to the twin if she stays in her crib long enough.
she's 2.5. i'm not sure i can go straight to a bed without rails because it will kill my husband. i think she can handle it, but he's certain she's going to roll onto the floor. no biggie either way.
I have no idea about the toddler vs twin, but I'm interested in the responses. I love the owl fabric. The only thing I wonder is if she would be happier (easier transition) with her new bed if she got to pick out some of the bedding?
Story time: my (kinda nuts) mother switched me to a twin at 9 months, because she was pregnant with my brother. No rails, but they propped a mattress on the side to act as a rail.
One night my grandma walked in my room and started screaming "the baby is gone! the baby is gone! someone stole the baby!"
My parents found me under my bed, sleeping. I guess I had rolled onto that mattress and under the bed and just kept sleeping.

i thought about that. i'm going to have her help me sew it up. worst case scenario, we go to ikea and she picks out another duvet and i cry nightly, drying my tears on owl print.

A. twin bed with bed rails. (side note as I saw your follow up for your DH with the bed rails. DD is 4.5 and we JUST took her bed rails off. lol. She's had them since she was 3ish (whe we switched her) and she never wanted them off and I was fine with it. She looked at me the other day and told me she was ready to get rid of them. all while looking at me like I had 10 heads for never taking them off before.) B. good idea. C. Yes D. Yes
We switched at around the same age last year. He has fallen out once and didnt even wake up. We were really worried it would be a nightmare, but it went great. We skipped nap the first day so he good and tired the first night. After that it was business as usual just in the big boy bed.
That fabric is adorable!
ETA...to get the damn lightbulb icon outta there. Dont know htf i did that.
