DH's aunt has been all over the comments of the Michael buble stuff on fb. She's been a complete bitch about it. Saying little gems like "dress like a slut and you'll get treated like one." "She deserved to have the photos taken, she was walking around with her privates hanging out." (I got into it with her and her daughter over uncovered public breastfeeding before.) I commented back that it's really a shame that people are so attention hungry these days, that they will use another person's image to bring attention to themselves. I'm feeling a little combative, and I hope she or any of the other chucklefucks acting like asses responds.
I think I missed the story the comment is referring to, but I get days like that, when I get so fed up with stupidity I hope to get into it with someone.
On Monday, he posted a shot taken by wife Luisana Lupilato featuring him in front of a counter. In the background stands a woman in short shorts, with cheek visible. Her back is to the camera and she may not have known she was being photographed, let alone that said photo would be posted online where it would be seen by hundreds of thousands of people. The original post bore the caption, "There's something about this photo Lu took that seemed worthy of Instagram."
Flash-forward four days and 7,600 comments (many of them about objectifying women) later. "Anyone who knows me would never misinterpret the message of the photo that my wife took in Miami that seems to have caused unexpected rage by some people," he wrote in a statement posted to Instagram Friday. "I do not not court controversy," he continued. "But I realize that a photo meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue. … I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive. That was not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected honored and revered. I've spent my life believing that and will continue to do so."

I saw this on CE&P.
I am so disappointed in Michael Buble. I didn't think he was a dick.
And fuck anyone that calls that outfit slutty. She's in Miami. Presumably in the vicinity of a beach given her wet hair. That outfit is entirely appropriate for her location and even if it wasn't, she's hardly "exposing her privates." Jesus, people suck.
Bullshit he didn't know that was offensive. That poor girl just wanted a damn coffee and by now her bum is all over the Internet. I'm sure by now she's seen the photo too.
Wow when I started reading this I for sure thought it would be a NSFW pic. This? Come on Michael you're a dick. This is nothing and this poor girl. I've seen worse on girls at Saturday football college games.
Her shorts are small but she isn't exposing much of anything and everything else is covered. She looks like she either came from a gym/working out or the beach. Lots of women wear shorts like that to things like yoga and running and such.
If someone is SO upset by a little cheek, the perhaps they need to evaluate themselve and not that poor woman.

I think because they weren't intending to be mean spirited, they didn't think it would be controversial. I don't think they were attempting to shame her, but they were still misogynistic, entitled dumb-asses, to think it was appropriate to post.

What was the point if they weren't intending to be mean? Because his hashtags were not what I would consider nice.

All except for the hungry shorts one struck me as similar to catcalls. They're not at all appropriate or in any way acceptable, but some guys genuinely think they're being complimentary with them. The non-apology, he issued had a tone of not understanding what he did was wrong, which I assume comes from him not realizing, whether he intended it or not, that he was being insulting. He disappointed me all the way around with this business.

I think I read his apology differently. It seemed like he wanted to feign ignorance to save face. "How could this totally benign picture that was supposed to be complimentary cause such a fuss?" I'm sad he's an asshole.

One more thought re: the catcalls being complimentary in the eyes of some men. I disagree. They wouldn't do it to their moms, sisters or wives unless they were assholes. Doing it to other women is not a compliment in their eyes. It is a way to make a woman feel uneasy. wasn't there a disgning women episode about this? Lol
Buble is a notorious dick, my H has known him for years. I told a story here once and didn't name him, and was flamed and accused of lying so I deleted and don't tell my H's stories anymore, lol. But yeah, giant douche.
So I was right that he was feigning ignorance? Color me shocked. lol

Those shorts look like what a lot of the girls at my gym wear. Lifting without a bunch of extra material in the way is nice. I don't think she's wearing anything even remotely "slutty" or whatever the perception is. I feel really bad for her. I would be so fucking embarrassed at having my body plastered all over the internet and the photo isn't even unflattering.
