My girls were pretty well-behaved at the funeral. Giving them suckers worked- although the grocery store didn't have any regular suckers so they got push pops that were like miniature light sabers.
The church (small country church) was completely packed- I was shocked, because at 93 most of her friends are long gone, but the distant relatives came out in droves. Most Sunday's there are only 15-20 people in attendance, so she would have loved seeing the church so full again.
I want to "like" this because it's beautiful, though I'm so sorry for your loss.
Thanks so much- she will be missed! But was thankfully around to see so much.

We had a good morning. L did good in the church nursery, we got DD and it was warm enough to eat it outside! Nap for L now and I'm hoping to snooze a little and then clean up outside during the rest of his nap. Hmm I also need to come up with a plan for supper.

This stuffed nose/congestion is driving me nuts. It's been a week and I am still a mess. I can't figure out if it is a cold or allergies. I've started taking my allergy medicine again but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

H is meeting a potential new friend for drinks after nap. I am dropping him off and contemplating taking DD for froyo after. We had froyo yesterday. Is 2 days in a row ok or I am setting her up for a lifetime of sugar addiction and obesity?
DH is starting to talk about the MMM official girl's name (Lucy). I could live with that.
Ha! Lucy was in our top three.
I'm sitting in the car while B naps. I promised DH I'd stay out of the house for six hours so he could work on the bathroom. So far it's been four hours and we're doing well. I really have to pee. As soon as he wakes up I'm getting a po' boy.

OMG, I am judging so hard right now. In the past 3 (maybe 4?) years, some friends of mine and H have gotten and rehomed a cat and 3 dogs. The most recent dog they got rid of within the past couple months. Every time, it's nothing but excuses about how they just don't have time to take care of it.
Guess who just got an 8 week old puppy!?!
Even if they don't care about what they're doing to the animals (which they obviously don't), dont they care about what it's doing to their young kids to repeatedly getting a new pet, only to get rid of it a few months later?
Ugh, I want to report them to every rescue I can find. (They've all been rescue animals so far) My guess is this dog will be gone by winter. I am so f'ing done with these people.
A miracle has occurred this weekend. After 8 long years DS finally realized he could get up in the morning without waking us up.* Saturday morning he got up, went downstairs, and watched tv for almost an hour while we stayed in bed. Then this morning he got up, went downstairs and made his own bowl of cereal for the very first time. Unfortunately he was so proud of that fete that he immediately woke me up to tell me what he'd done. We are ushering in a new era in our house. Now to teach myself how to sleep past 6 a.m. again.
* I realize most kids do this earlier but our kids clearly enjoy our company too much.
I just sat at Starbucks for the last two hours and got my 3 teacher evaluations done. Once I input them into the program later tonight and meet with the teachers tomorrow I will officially be done work, well, after I hand in my keys, blackberry and laptop apparently...while I am not loving not being at work, being done all the things I actually HAVE to do feels good.
Last night before we went out to dinner, we were talking about new items on the menu and I was looking at them online. DD reached out at my screen, "grabbed" the deviled eggs on the screen, and put them in her mouth, Then she did it again. I was dying of laughter. She's never seen a deviled egg IRL. It is such a struggle to feed DD at mealtimes but apparently it is no problem getting her to eat pictures of food on the internet!
We're spreading DH's grandparents ashes in our backyard in a few minutes. That was their wishes. I've never done this before and I'm not sure how. Should I put on nice clothes? Think of something to say?
If you weren't really close to them, I think it's fine to let your DH handle the "saying something nice." I wouldn't wear pajamas but I don't think you need to dress up necessarily.
Sorry for your loss.
We were very close to both of them. I'm just awkward about this sort of thing. But it went really well! We decided to be honest with DS. We told him his great-grandparents were very old, and they died and we won't see them anymore. He's only 3 so he doesn't understand. But he collected a pile of dandelions and placed them next to the ashes. It was very sweet.
DD2 needed to be fed after DD1 fell asleep. Then I went to bed. Then DD1 woke up partway into her nap because H forgot to close her curtains, so I laid her down by me to fall back asleep. I got 20 minutes of sleep, then DD2 was screaming to eat. Literally 30 seconds after H took her back to the living room, DD1 woke up next to me.

I drug H into Target for groceries and he was so unpleasant because he hates grocery shopping on Sunday. Every time I went to another aisle for something DS yelled mama mama mama mama and screeched and somehow that was my fault. Why is my family trying to ruin a lazy Sunday for me?
Now H is getting his boat from storage and won't be home till 730. DS is watching effing Daniel Tiger for the 4th time today.
Russian wanted to go shopping today. I now remember why I shop on Random Tuesdays..lol. It was fine but people freakin' everywhere since it was Sunday, rainy and cold.
I had no intent on getting much other than stockup stuff at Sam's, but I wandered through ON and half the store was like $10.99 or less. Fun patterned pixie pants, a couple dresses, a bunch of $2.99 t-shirts and camis. It was awesome and I got two bags of stuff for less than $100.00. Same at JCP with the shirts. I will wear them to milk cows in if nothing else...lol.
I did hit Target for Lilly. They had a lot left, just not what I wanted (the flip flops and the white outdoor blanket with the gold trim!). Apparently, it's the only thing everyone else in town wanted..haha. I'm going to hit the smaller town Target on Tuesday to see if they have them.
DD1 and I are watching the first Harry Potter movie again. OMG, it is question after question with this child.
"Harry Potter's real mom and dad got killed, right? How?" "Why does Voldemort want to kill Harry?" "Why does Voldemort want the Sorcerer's Stone?" "Why does Voldemort crawl on the ground?" "Harry is friends with Ron and Hermione, right? So boys can be friends with boys AND girls. Right?” "What's that plant called? Double Snail?" (Devil's Snare) "Why did Voldemort ALMOST die when he tried to kill Harry?"
She's really hitting some of the big questions here, lol.
All the LP Target madness had me checking out the real deal at Saks out of curiousity. Are all those shift dresses that short IRL? I would feel like I could not bend. Or sit. Nor would anyone want to see that much of my thighs.
(I live in the north. I don't think I have ever seen someone wearing this IRL, lol.)

Ugh my rcs is on Thursday and I'm so sick. I have bronchitis and it hurts every bone in my body to cough. I'm so miserable. I just want to get better and enjoy my last few days as a family of 3.
This is the first night I'm trying to have DS2 sleep alone in the other room. I feel like we have to get a handle on his sleep. Between waking up a ton at night and giving daycare such trouble at naps I need to figure something out. It's weird though, I miss him. He is so much cuddlier than his brother and he loves to just sleep next to me or sigh away in his pack and play. I'm listening to him breathe over the monitor now.
