I can't believe I'm posting this given how many times I've been there. LOL.
H and I are going to be there next weekend and he wants to eat at a nice steakhouse-ish place. I suggested Craftsteak but he thinks with the fight it's probably going to be nuts at the MGM. We should probably make reservations...uh...yesterday. We're staying at the Elara (the condo tower behind Planet Hollywood) but are willing to cab it anywhere.
I really like StripSteak at Mandalay Bay. We've been a number of times, and I deemed it worthy of a birthday celebration once. Aside from the steak, the sides are fantastic. And...you get complimentary duck fat fries! Hopefully, this is still true today.
More recently, I had a pretty good meal at Old Homestead at Caesars, but it was pretty expensive (more than I would personally want to spend on steak). I was glad we were comped. LOL.
If you're up for an old-school feel and don't mind going downtown to the Golden Nugget, Vic & Anthony's was kind of awesome for that eating-in-the-darkness with dark wood all around and tuxedoed servers feel. We had a great time there.
And I am BEYOND JEALOUS that you guys had a room there prior to knowing about the fight. I would've sold that room to a high bidder so quick.
my people will be all over that city that night, btw. lol.
GO PAQ!!
K booked a room THE MINUTE he heard rumors about the fight. We really lucked out! I'm so excited.
Of course we're not going to the fight itself (goddamn tickets aren't even on sale, WTF MGM) because we're not Obama rich, but hopefully we'll see the close circuit fight somewhere.
I'm going to be screaming, "SWEEP THE LEG, PACMAN!" at the screen the entire time. LOL.

I read this as old-school feel-up, which is probably also a possibility in old Vegas. Ha ha!
ETA: I'm drooling at your StripSteak pics. I'm hungry.
Also, if you want to see the fight, go to a property the MGM owns. They're blacking it out at all non-MGM properties.
I am actually pissed about this whole ticket situation. I read an article that tickets may never be sold, and it has to do with the camps reserving tickets, which means only the super rich / well connected are getting into this fight. Not that we could have afforded it, but we did get tickets to see the De La Hoya v Mayweather fight, and those were on sale months in advance. Less than 2 weeks until the fight, and MGM's site still says tickets aren't for sale, for the fight OR closed circuit. Just a giant clusterfuck and a big, greedy FUCK YOU to boxing fans.

Oh, the greed is super strong. When they announced they were only going to show it at MGM properties, I was like damn. Downtown is fucked, as are all the other properties. As if they're not taking in enough money every year.
Carnevino! Best on the Strip in my (and H's) opinion!
Ah, yes, I agree that Carnevino is excellent.
For some reason, I always have it in my head as "Italian" instead of "steak," but it is STEAK-FILLED.
We love steak, but having pasta and other Italian stuff as sides instead of your usual french or American offerings, is a huge draw for us. And, you know, the steak itself is just amazing!
Thanks for this post. I am getting married at Mandalay Bay on THE NIGHT of the fight. (booked way before it was announced) and need to get some more reservations in. It should be pretty crazy!
We went last month and had excellent meals at Delminicos and Bobby Flay's restaurant in Caesar's (blanking on the name). For breakfast Mon Ami Gabi and Bouchon are really good!
