I have the sand in the water table and the bubble mower, both MMM suggestions and both awesome. But I think I would like something else for her. She has one of those battery operated jeeps but is too small for it right now. So I was thinking something along the lines of this
Or or any other suggestions? I was also thinking maybe one of those outdoor playhouses. A plastic one or maybe DH could make a wooden one. Has anyone done this?
I would do a wooden outdoor play set. My kiddo loved it from maybe 9 months on - at that age, he was only swinging, or we could sit him on the slide and help him slide down, but it's totally worth it, or was for us.
DS loves little sports equipment (soccer goal, basketball hoop) and his wheelbarrow. Also the playset - we got a wooden one which vary a lot in price but a little plastic playhouse would be great too.
I thought about this roller coaster. Doesn't someone here have it?
We have the Step2 one from Costco pp linked. It's only $46 in-store. They tend to sell out quickly, FYI.
Our sandbox, plastic playhouse, and slide get a ton of use. She also loves to swing - I got a FP swing but we need to hang it up.
Sidewalk chalk and bubbles are big hits too. My sister got her into laying down on concrete and tracing your outline, then drawing on it. My driveway/sidewalk look like a very tiny crime scene. The bubbles with the longer wand/container make more bubbles at once, too, which she really likes when I wave around. (She has trouble blowing bubbles on her own.)
H also grabbed a plastic rake/shovel/yard tool set on impulse one day. She likes to follow us around and do "yardwork".
We've got a few tiny lawn chairs that Ace Hardware had for $5 or $10, which I've more than gotten my money's worth from. She really likes having her own seat outside.
We have a small Step2 slide that gets a lot of use. He also loves his picnic table - he likes to sit outside and eat snacks and color/play with his trains.
We also got him a little soccer goal because his first love is playing with balls.
We have the sandbox, baby pool, and cozy coupe...none of which AJ has gotten to use yet (first two were bought recently, the last one needs to be put together the rest of the way and its a pain). He does use his riding toy, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and bubble mower all the damn time though.
She does love her bubbles, chalk, and slide. I just feel like she is getting bored with them. sjh722, I do like the laying down and tracing idea. Thanks!
We have a playhouse, climber, swing (hung from our elevated deck), sandbox, cozy coupe, scooter, ride on toys, lil quad, plasma car, water table, trike (similiar - ours is a little different) and other smaller outdoor toys and things I can't even remember. Some are kept out back and others in our garage so we can pull out to play in the cul-de-sac. I like having options so it's not the same couple things she always plays with.
We have a power wheels quad (the big version) but I would not get that for a little one. I'd get a kid powered ride on...a crazy coup, a radio flyer tiny trike or something. We have a play structure, Step 2 slide & table/sandbox, teeter tooter, basketball hoop, teepee, balls galore, plasma cars, scooters, trike.

I totally agree with this. This is all pretty much a daily ritual. Sans the water table which I'm debating on.
We have a variety of balls, cozy coupe, small plastic slide, water table, some ride on Thomas the train, tball set, bubbles, and are planning to get a wooden playset.
J's favorite thing is tball or just running around wild and free lol.
DS's favorite outside toy was a school bus with a little slide that he could pretend to drive. It was this one, though I got it on sale. We moved it to MIL's house when he outgrew it so that his younger cousin could play with it, and he actually still plays on it when we are over there (although mostly he stands on top and jumps off now, lol).
Other favorites have been his sand box, bubbles, balls, and a plastic Step 2 "motorcycle" that he loved.
We have lots of the stuff mentioned (DS is almost 4 and DD is 2) hits at our house are any sand/ gardening tools, bubble machine and lawn mower. I forget the brand of the bubble machine, but its purple and was only $12. It works pretty well too. My kids also love soccer so we got a ball and some little cones. We have a power wheels and my kids love it but I really don't because when we go outside I want them to run around and wear themselves out, lol.
Ooh, I forgot about sidewalk paint. That's fun too (if you have a cement patio)

I would not do this if you are looking for less work for you. If she is too small for the jeep then you will just be helping her not run into everything.
Maybe a small trampoline?
We do not have it, but our friends have he roller coaster and even the six year olds play on it.

Good point. Yeah, she probably wouldn't get the steering thing yet.
The cozy coupe has by far gotten the most use for us.
What age or stage would you say they get into the Cozy Coupe? This is on our list, but i'm not sure if our one year old will like it.
DD got one for her 1st birthday, and she was super into it immediately. First she loved using it as a walker, now she loves climbing in and out and closing the door, and being pushed around in it. We haven't tried taking out the floor yet to have her push herself around.

It was hilariously disastrous the first time my son drove his. My dad bought it for his second bday and my dad, husband and uncle were all yelling things like "step on the gas!" and "turn left... NO LEFT!!" Um, he's barely 2. He has no clue what you're saying.

DS1 loved it even before he was one. He got it at about 11 months. There is a little platform that you put in the base so they can just sit with their legs up and he loved sitting in it and being pushed around. Then for awhile he loved to push it everywhere. Now, at 3 he rides/drives it around.

We have a quad thing, and DD loves it, but steering is not her thing.
For living in the land of 9-month winters, we sure have a ton of outdoor crap, but luckily, our neighbors like to buy stuff and then give or sell it to us cheap, which is how we acquired the quad and a Hello Kitty power wheel car.
We also have: Nice wooden playhouse Slide/climber/tiny swing thing Water table Little tikes picnic table Teeter totter Little tikes slide Rocking plastic fish thing Cozy coupe Radio flyer trike
Water table and play house get by far the most use. DD would LIVE at the water table, and we just got a crappy one for $5 at a garage sale, and bought a $1 water wheel thing from target, and she plays with measuring cups, a bucket, and plastic gardening tools on it.
