Costco is too far for us so we just got a Sam's membership on Groupon. I've been to the one by our house on a business account before and it is really nice and very Costco-like. I was pleasantly surprised.
I love the Kale salad there. Eat Smart Kale salad or something like that. Has dried fruit, pumpkin seeds, and creamy poppyseed dressing. Their muffins and cookies are really good. I buy Bai 5 drink there, but I'm sure you can get that other places? Milk and butter tend to be cheaper there.
I buy butter there. I also love their organic baby cut carrots, and lettuce/spinach (depends on what they have). We get the Stacey's Pita chips regularly, as well as cheese sticks and seasonal berries. The last couple of times I've been, they've had a 12-pack of organic applesauce pouches at a great deal.
Here's our standing shopping list for Sam's Club: -Frigo string cheese (not the low fat crap) -Peanut butter -Cat food -Eggs -Coffee (paramount) -English muffins -They usually have a large pork loin for a very good price/lb. It comes with instructions on it how to butcher it, and we get 2 2-lb roasts plus about 14 chops out of it. Great deal.
Produce - raspberries and strawberries, bags of organic apples; booze; butter quarters; cute cheap clothes for DD; DH got an awesome Royals jersey there a few weeks ago; cleaning stuff. I still prefer to go to the Costco about 30 minutes away, but if I'm in a pinch I go to Sam's. Hopefully there will be a Costco option nearer to me soon!
We also get bread there as well - we freeze one loaf (you have to buy two), and pull it out when the other one is about done - it tastes the same to us.
I like Sam's a lot actually. I live nowhere near a Costco so that sways my opinion...lol...but Sam's has been good.
They have cute clothes esp. lounge stuff. They have a lot of Nine West clothing which is actually great and fits a grown adult. I find random decor from time to time too.
They have tons of kid toys I don't see other places. They carry a decent selection of kid's clothes. Not as exciting HA at Costco but I really like it for boy stuff esp.
DD and I both have swimsuits from Sam's.
Mini quiches in the frozen section. Rave reviews Shrimp scampi Caribou coffee is affordable. Gatorade, bottled water etc. Tide and Cascade Fruit both fresh and frozen (giant bags of frozen mangos esp.) Kid snacks (both healthy and non healthy) in ind. bags. Great for the diaper bag The in house sandwich breads/rolls are great Deli ham and turkey Canned diced tomatoes
Kids Motrin is also $9.99 for a large 2 pack. Vitamins for the kids Razors and random soap
You can also get a HUGE frozen yogurt for .99.
Whatever I feel like basically.
I kind of hate their meat dept. It never looks very good to me.
It's not as "pretty" as Costco but it's about the same otherwise.
We have a membership. We mostly stock up on meat for the freezer - chicken, fish, bacon. My DH stocks up on almonds, craisins, and coffee. Diapers and wipes when needed.
We also bought our playset there, lol. It's great.
I forgot: My Kids'down Babybel like it's going out of style and a 24 pack is decently priced. 100% juice boxes are a great deal too. I don't see them a lot of other places in more than a 6 pack otherwise.
I prefer Costco and puffy heart it big time. But it also is just too far for us to use regularly so this year we also switched to Sam's. It's okay. Our regular items include things like: Kale salad mix (just spinach, kale and some other lettuce) Cage free eggs fruit brussel sprouts asparagus mini-muffins lean ground turkey
Thankfully my mom and sister still have Costco memberships so I just either have them pick up items for me or I tag along with them when possible. Costco has tried for 5+ years to get into the large suburb next to me and the city won't let them. :-(

I don't buy a lot of food products there but I really like their toy and clothes selection. They also have better selection than Costco of books, dvds and video game stuff.
I have a Sam's membership through work but mostly order through their website - they offer free shipping on diapers and pull ups! It is also the lowest cost/per count I can find. I have also read that they have better prices on batteries than Target/Wal-Mart. Also, you can use ebates to shop on their website.
They have antibiotic free chicken breasts for $3.99/lb, ground beef (90% lean) for $3.88 (I think) a lb. Both are far cheaper than my local grocery options.
Toilet paper, paper towels, bottled water, Gatorade, milk, butter, bacon, cheese, bisquick, syrup, and cereal, ground turkey are all a standard. Also liquor- cheaper there for me. Paper plates/cups/plastic utensils for parties. They also patty their own beef into burgers which are good.
Their rotisserie chicken is $4.88 and good for a few meals!
We also bought our playset there, lol. It's great.
How was this to set up? Is the quality good? I was just looking at this set the other day and am trying to convince DH to let me buy it.
It arrived in 2 boxes. My DH and his dad put it together. It took 2 solid afternoons of work. I think for an extra couple hundred dollars you can have it assembled for you. It was definitely worth it. We've only had it a few months now, but the quality seems really nice, especially for the price!
We don't have Costco so I can't compare. I just went to Sam's today and bought 2 running jackets made by Tangerine. I don't know anything about the brand but for <$10 each I decided to give it a try. I've been happy with other clothing items I've bought there. Their store brand Toilet paper is pretty good and I like their trail mix.

I've had cakes from the bakery a few different times from Sams and they are always really good. We do the majority of our shopping there with the exception of meat.
I just got hummus topped with mango salsa today and it is amazing. O downed two samples, then we ate more when we got home. Not sure if it's also other places, but $6 for a giant container there. They had champagne mangoes tonight that were really great, if you like mangoes. Soft pretzels are also good there! $1 way to keep O entertained while I shop.
