I just started The Wives of Los Alamos by TaraShea Nesbit. It's good, but the intro is first person plural. Which is great for intros. But apparently the whole book is like that, as a way to tell of the collective experience of the women at Los Alamos in the 1940s. I don't really want the collective experience, I'd prefer research into individual stories, but okay. It's not too long, so we'll see how I like it.
I'm also going to try to read the Wastelands by Stephen King before the end of the month, but that might not be realistic.
On Immunity by Eula Biss, which is essays, not at all fast paced but very interesting, and re-reading Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde, which is a lot of fun.
I'm back to Gone with the Wind (I had to take a break for my book club, which you'll all be happy to know I DID finish in time! I was the only one - lol.). It's taken probably four weeks to read, but I do feel like it went pretty fast. I could easily read fifty or sixty pages during my little reading breaks, it's just a long book and I don't get enough breaks!
QOTD: swings! I don't even know of a park with a merry go round
It's very good, and the descriptions are phenomenal, but it's not a fast paced read that I just can't put down (although I do find myself reading quite a bit because the sub-chapters are pretty short, so I justify "just one more" several times before I put it down.
QOTW: Swings for sure. I've hated the tailbone jarring thump of a see-saw ever since I broke 100 lbs, and I've always hated playground motion-sick-o-whirls.

I am still reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I am really liking it but with the warmer weather I have less time to read as my yard work has multiplied.

I just started Live From New York last night. It's a quick read so far. I'm stalled on The Solitude of Prime Numbers. It's good, but I needed something a little less dark this week.
I started and finished All the Bright Places last night. It's a YA novel that's been compared to the Fault in Our Stars and Eleanor and Park. I cried like crazy, so there's that.
I'm reading The Fiery Cross right now and OMG it's taking FOREVER (but I love it.)

I'm reading An Old Betrayal by Charles Finch, I'm enjoying it but it's taking a while to get the story moving.
QOTW: I'll always have a try on the swings and the merry-go-round, and if I can talk someone else into it, I'll play on the see-saw as well. I'm really just a big kid anyway. Before they replaced all the slides with the super-safe ones I'd have a go down the slide too, if no-one was looking.
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr - I like it. It's taking me forever to get through because I usually read in bed and I keep falling asleep.
QOTW: Merry go round. They don't have those at parks here anymore.
I'm almost done with Pillars of the Earth. Regardless of how much I like a book I am incapable of staying up late to read/finish - I just fall asleep holding the book with the light on and then my H comes in and laughs at me.
I'm also listening to A Memory of Light on audiobook. So many of the pronunciations are different than what I had expected when I read the book on paper. But, I've decided I really like listening to an audiobook that I've already read - if I miss something I don't have to go back and find it.
I'm reading Inferno by Dan Brown. I like it but sometimes I feel stupid with all the Italian phrases (the ones not translated) and the art/historical references. I just have to take Langdon's word for it, I guess.
QOTW: If it's an honest to goodness merry-go-round (and not the sick-o-whirl like someone else called it, LOL), I'm all over that. Otherwise, I'll take the swings.

Wait, which is which?
The merry go round is the one with horses and all, like at Disney. The sick-o-whirl is the one with just the handles that spins as fast as someone can push it. At least in my experience!

I was thinking the self-pushed spinning thing at the park as a merry-go-round, because I think of the ones with horses as either carousels or "flying horses." But either way, I'll take a turn.

I saw the self pushed spinning one as the merry go round, and the one with the horses as a carousel.

Okay, I can see that. Those terms have always been synonymous for me!
