I'm on the hunt for a black blazer that I can wear in two weeks for an interview, as well as in six weeks on a business trip.
I have a large bust (34H bra size), and likely would not be planning to ever wear it closed. When I go on the business trip in six weeks, I will be (fingers crossed) 10 weeks pregnant with my second, and possibly showing (and hoping to hide it).
What are my best places to start looking? The only suit I've ever owned in the past was from NY & Co and it was honestly probably kind of ill fitting, but I didn't know better at the time (I was 21, not fasionable and interviewing for my current job.)
I would be wearing this blazer with black Express Editor pants, and likely one of these flowy tops.
I'm not sure what your price point is, but I love my J. Crew Schoolboy blazer. I have it in several colors. I typically get it on sale. I know others have recommended the blazers from H&M as well, which would be a better price point. I also found a really cute knit blazer from the clearance rack at Target that is super comfortable.
glitzy07, no, I'd avoid navy. If you're wearing black pants, you need either a black blazer that matches the pants exactly and is part of a suit set or you need a different color altogether, like gray. I'd hit Express to get the exact matching black blazer, if it's available. For a job interview, I'd go the suit route as opposed to separates.
Whatever you do though, do not wear a cardigan and a skater skirt to your interview.
This is the hard part about an internal interview. My basic work uniform is black pants, a top like I linked above, and a cardigan of some sort. But I know that I should dress up more than normal for the interview, hence the blazer or suit.
A) I really like those LC tops you linked. Do you buy them in store at Kohls?
B) Last night I saw Target (the super Target close to where ECFE class is) had black and grey blazers. I think Target clothes are pretty good and I didn't look at the pricing but it's probably not bad. Bonus is it doesn't require a separate trip to the mall. Worth maybe checking out. I was thinking of getting one to dress up jeans sometimes or a grey one to wear with black pants too.
spk926 Yep! They're right in the LC Lauren Conrad section at Kohl's. They're on sale right now for $24.99 plus Kohl's cash. I just bought two more patterns last night!
