I like rompers and shift dresses (not LP, necessarily) even though I'm neither young nor incredibly thin. At least I live in a tropical climate.
I dislike the suggestion of books as a baby (or toddler) gift. Most people buying books are not creative or hermione, so folks end up with a million copies of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Barnyard Dance, or freaking Goodnight Moon.
I have never bought these books for any babies/toddlers I know. I did give out Eric Carle books as favors for DD's 2nd birthday, but they were books like Papa, Please Get me the Moon and Pancakes, Pancakes.
I hate watch the Duggars. I'm trying to stop watching but it's hard after all these years...I am fascinated by fundies. I fast forward through 75% of the episodes most weeks.

our go to books to give are Mo Willems Pigeon Books or Press Here/Mix It Up
oh and my UO is I am not really bothered by most MLMs except the body shaming ones like the body wraps. I have been wearing Jamberry since January and it cured my nail biting habit. I have also recently gotten into 31 Bags. It helps that my friends that sell are not pushy at all.
I love that I admitted to going to not only a Nickelback concert, but also a Creed concert... And you continue to get mentioned when it comes to shitty taste in music. Thanks for taking the fall
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
In my defense, it's my husband that loves crappy music. But really, I'm just hoping you forget again.

Once in college DH was playing a Creed song on guitar. He was really only doing it because my roommate liked Creed, but I have never stopped bringing it up. I frequently ask him where his Creed CDs are.Â
In sum, I'm not sure how I missed your confession the first time around but Creed-related things stay with me, so NEVER FORGET!
If your husband can't find his CDs, I'd be happy to send you my husbands. Free.
I just was on GOMI and ended up on some fashion blogger from Utah's website...all I can say is that I think wearing 4 inch heels is insane in general, but when you are 8 month pregnant (no wait, 9)...you are fucking insane. This chick wears minidresses and heels for every post. I am lucky to not wear maternity jeans 7 days a week - the days I don't wear them I am wearing yoga pants. It's just unnatural to wear stilettos when you are that far along.
lol, I am only partially as passionate as I sound about this.

I like some of the products, too. It is the FB pushiness that irritates me but I don't mine a monthly email or something or one post a month about the special of the month or something. But the duck face selfies of people drinking their shakeology shakes daily? Ugh. And the Rodan & Fields people! I have one friend who has sold it for a long time and she'll have it out at an MJ party (but won't mention it, it's just there if you are curious) and only mentions it occasionally on FB. I am fine with that. But these people that have used it for 2 weeks and are now selling it and posting multiple times a day? NO.
I don't agree with open enrollment for college. I believe you should have to achieve a set minimum score on a test like the Compass in order to receive entrance even to state schools, community colleges, and proprietary schools. As an instructor, I've seen too many students granted entrance into school who I don't even know how graduated high school (another issue), and it takes a while for them to SAP out due to GPA. Then, they end up with student loan debt. (Most of them are low income.) It is predatory to me.
I believe everyone should have a chance, but I have literally seen compass scores of a 1 before. 1... These students should be counseled to seek additional education before "trying it" at college. But, with the free flowing government loans, the schools are more interested in the bottom dollar. They can at least gain X amount of dollars before the student inevitably fails.
I also think people should have to earn a 3.0 in college after the first semester in order to receive government loans. It would decrease the amount of money going into the colleges and drive cost down, or at least stop the insane increase year to year. When college became a huge cash cow, it decreased on the job training programs etc. Now, people have to spend 30,000 dollars on a degree that lands them a job that pays 24,000 a year. It has to stop.
I can't hate a song that mentions the X-Files and Harrison Ford.
"Watchin' X-Files with no lights on, we're dans la maison, I hope the Smoking Man's in this one. Like Harrison Ford I'm getting frantic, like Sting I'm tantric, like Snickers guaranteed to satisfy."
I have a thing for wordplay, so I love that song. I also love Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.
Now, if anyone defends Smash Mouth, we have a problem.
docholly, are resources made available to your students to help them succeed? I think it sucks to throw an 18-year-old into an academic environment for which they might not have been prepared since HS standards can vary so widely and then just say, "sink or swim, kid!"

I work at several different colleges and universities. In general, it varies place to place. At some schools, they track these "at risk" students. They do have access to tutoring/writing labs etc. But, that isn't enough. At some colleges, it is sink or swim (most). They start them in developmental classes that cost money but do not equal any credit because they aren't college level courses. The problem is, when you are coming in at such a deficit, 8-16 weeks in a developmental course is not going to adequately prepare the student. Schools that have shorter terms put students at even more of a disadvantage. It is a lot of material quickly which is both overwhelming and counter-productive to long term learning. It is the equivalent of cramming for a test. You might pass the course but will you retain the information? I have also seen a lot of pressure on teachers to monitor their pass/fail rates. If you fail too many, even if it is deserved, you are on the radar. Grade inflation is another huge issue.
