I will say I had some amount of carseat training with my first and third children. With my second I did not. And by my 3rd (Feb '13) the nurse who gave me the chat about carseat safety said to RF to a minimum of two, but preferably longer, how to position the straps and that it was important that there was less than 1" of movement at the belt path. I was very impressed with how thorough they were and hope that becomes standard.
This!! We did have to watch a video at the hospital before we went home, but we were in the NICU so we had to do a few extra things. I don't understand why it isn't standard.
I have always wondered why NICU parents have to go through more training on basic things (not related to the NICU or their kid). The car seat training should be standard for everyone.
Yeah. We also had to do a infant CPR class. That seems like it should be standard too, no?

You must say something. Unless I misunderstand this isn't about FFing vs RFing, it's about basic strap safety. PP gave you an out with "I read this awful news story and promised myself I'd speak up...." angle.
Say something. Sometimes people are receptive and grateful. I mentioned to a friend that I was surprised she was already ff her eleven month old. She said she had been meaning to ask me about it. She had been hearing conflicting things and figured I would have done the research. We talked about car seat safety and I sent her links to some resources. She remedied the situation quickly.
I let someone else I knew that her sling had been recalled due to infant death. She was very appreciative, and the next time I saw her, she happily showed me her new sling.
It doesn't always go badly and even if it does, a child's safety is more important.

I said something recently in a private message and it went over very well. I came from the angle of "Oh I screwed this up so many times and I am so thankful someone stopped me to tell me I was strapping DS in wrong!" [even though that wasn't the case]. Mom was very appreciate. I threw in a "these little guys don't come with instruction manuals," etc. to smooth it over.
probably a stupid question but how can you tell that is forward facing? Can't it possibly be a pic taken from the backseat??
I'd speak up but be very careful in the presentation of it. Sending links can be taken offensively by many and IMO won't get you anywhere. I personally would approach it like "saw your pic of your cutie....omg don't you hate when the seat straps get all tangled? I've become ultra paranoid after reading some research of kids being severely injured by that! I finally realized I could keep them straight and tight by spending an extra few seconds detangling them and following the instruction manual. Please be sure to keep your precious cargo safe "
because I cropped the picture to cut out his head.... in the non-cropped version the back windshield was clearly visable
