Our only saving grace to go to restaurants is we put DD in her stroller at 8:15, walk around for half an hour and she passes out, then we roll into a restaurant and eat in peace. We live walking distance to a few places so we did this tonight. MIL was with us and downed 2 margaritas while I had 1.
It is storming pretty bad here so I am on edge. You'd think living in the Midwest my entire life would mean storms would be NBD but I always feel so insecure now that I have no basement :/
@vicmo snark aside, we both can be non-breezy in restaurants. PPs have given lots of good advice. We always bring a pouch or fruit just in case. Lately the tossing food on the floor has been getting better. Daycare has really been stressing that food stays on the bowl, and they asked us to reinforce at home. We say that dumping it throwing tells us that
Also we try to carry an oil cloth in the diaper bag to deal with bigger messes, and our guilt.

My husband put Nods to bed. I messaged him and asked if everything was okay because he was in there a really long time. He responded saying he fell asleep. I kept thinking he would come out, but I guess after texting me back. he fell asleep again.
According to V, the fox says "hatee-ho". So, glad that's settled.
Daycare taught DD the response to the "what does the fox say?" song last year. Awful, and yet simultaneously hilarious. "ding ding ding ding-ding-ding"

Do you have a crawlspace at least? I hope so!
Nope it's a slab foundation. Where we are in TX pretty much no one has a basement or crawl space or anything. We do have an interior hallway that is pretty safe, but it feels odd to not be able to retreat to a basement.

I can't sleep because my toe is throbbing and my neighbors are screaming at each other again. It is pretty bad, I can hear what they are saying despite a foot if brick between us.

I live in Kansas and most of my life didn't have a basement. I knew if needed to get into the bathtub from a small age. Never did though as I love storms.

I have never heard that recommended as a place to go. Generally they recommend interior bathrooms if you don't have a basement. I grew up in KS without a basement.
