Ok, what I'm getting is that you missed your chance to eat during the gap and that the dinner is not being served yet, so you are starving? No cocktail hour appetizers? Or the appetizers are gone, still waiting for dinner? I mean it sucks, but you will eat soon enough, right? The lack of booze bothers me a lot more than the lack of food.
I would be calculating the exact moment when I could politely make my excuses and leave. No way would I be sticking around longer than I had to, brother's wedding or not.
Your brother and his new wife are total shitpigs for pulling this crap.
Seriously, who doesn't serve food at a WEDDING? And I was mad at the wedding I went to where they charged me $1 for a glass of water, $4 for soda and $6 for wine. at least there was FOOD. geezus.
Hold the phone, you were charged money for a GLASS of water? A glass of tap water?!
Flameful: if I was at a wedding that served a spread of kick ass muffins instead of a cake I would be ecstatic.
...AFTER the real food and booze, of course.
ETA: I should be clear that kick ass muffins =/= Sam's Club muffins
A few years ago my cousin had her wedding at a beautiful venue (old theater) but only served light appetizers AND they ran out. My poor grandparents only were able to get a couple small pieces to eat. It was ridiculous. So many people went out and came back with fast food. There were McDonald's and Burger King bags everywhere, ha.
I don't understand how it's not common knowledge to feed your guests. I hate leaving a wedding hungry.
