I have one of those Dyson Animal stick things (it's purple?). I love it. It is battery operated/rechargeable, so no cords and it is lightweight. It maneuvers so nicely. I got it at Kohl's with a 30% off coupon.
My Shark Navigator was awesome until it died. That's 8 years of farm dirt, dust, straw and a few actual rocks...so it was worth it. I'd suggest.
I now have a Eureka Zuum and it's equally comparable. I also like that it's smaller so it seems to do corners better without hitting them.
My printer is a 10 year old Epson I have to bang the side of to make it work. I'm not the one you want to talk to on that. It does pretty really really good quality though.

I have this one m.sears.com/shark-navigator-lift-away-professional-plus-upright-vacuum/p-02032144000P that I use in our downstairs which is hardwood and carpet. I have a Kenmore progressive that is so old they don't have it on the website anymore. That is my upstairs vacuum which is all carpet. I like both for different reason, but I will say that I'm only going to buy vacuums with bags from now on. The bag less ones just don't keep the dust contained as well.

My Mom has a Kenmore Progressive and if it wasn't for my Dad she'd marry that thing. I sort of want one too but I only have 3 smaller rooms of carpet at the moment (Which will be gone in 2 years hopefully) so I don't need a super good one. She says the same thing about the bags. Loves them.
We have this printer at my office and I just bought one for our house. It does a ton of stuff for not a lot of money and my coworker said they have had it a year with zero problems. It might be a bit more than you need, but I wanted the ability to scan and copy since I was buying it anyway.
shark navigator! Skip the dysons, other brands rank higher by consumer reports. We liked our Hoover Wind Tunnel but the Shark does better with the dog hair.
We have the Canon Pixma MX922 wireless printer. It has more features than we need (fax and scanner, namely), but the wireless is super handy, and we got a great price when it was an Amazon Deal of the Day. I have found knockoff printer cartridges for cheap on Amazon. I've been pleased with the quality of the print as well as how well it has held up since we got it.
I don't need to print color at home. I like the speed of the laser printing (I print a lot of contracts, etc) and it's also a lot more economical than buying inkjet cartridges. We bought it last May and I think just changed toner cartidges last week, and I print a lot. The replacement cartridges are also cheap on Amazon.

I think this is the one we had at work. I haven't had a home printer since college and really only need it now to print shipping labels. Only kicker is that I think wireless would be really nice since I have a laptop.

We have this one, also purchased when it was the DOTD. Going on 2 years and it's still going strong. I did have trouble getting it to connect (and say connected) to wifi when we moved but canon customer service was quick to access, in the U.S. (I'm assuming, there was no weird script he was following), and solved my issue. No issues with the print functions and I use it to print shipping labels through paypal pretty frequently. I also use the scan function for work and the images look really great on my screen and when printed.
ETA: We had a laser printer at one point, in addition to a regular printer, and those are great and I agree that it will probably fit your needs very well.
We have a Miele canister vac and it works great for carpet and hardwood.
I have this & a Kenmore Progressive. Both are good but very different (one is canister, one is bag less, etc).
I have an Epson X-400 and a mega Brother (prints 11x17). Both are all-in-ones. I recommend the Epson over the Brother except the ink cartridges are too small & run out quickly.
