I used to get them a lot. I've only had a couple since my baby was born, but my night terrors and parasomnias are the stuff of family legend.
My sister in particular remembers being little and seeing me tear out of bed screaming about "them," and how "they" were going to get us, and of course my first reaction upon fully waking was to grab the cat and try to hide in the bathtub with her, only to have the cat suspect impending bath and freak the fuck out too. Sister luckily found it amusing and not terrifying and loves that my H has had to chase me around the house to wake me up and bring me back to bed.
DD gets them. They are usually related to being overtired. The first time she had one was absolutely brutal. Scary scary. I had them as a teenager pretty bad, I think these were related to hormonal changes.
I get them when I'm stressed out or if I'm over-tired. They are horrific. Thankfully, H is not bothered by them too much, he just kind of rolls his eyes at this point and herds me back to bed (mine involve running from the bed screaming bloody murder and swinging at anyone who happens to be standing in the way.)

I don't think I've ever had one of these, thank god.
I was obsessed with The Walking Dead/Zombies last night for some reason - haven't watched an episode in months but could not get it out of my head last night... to the point where I had to put my foot under the covers, lest it get eaten.

My H gets them. He talks in his sleep also. It's not a lot of fun for me or him if he wakes up and freaks out about something. One night he thought someone was under the bed. He screamed and ran downstairs. I had to go actually check under the bed and then he still slept on the couch.
His blood sugar has been tested and it is fine, so I don't know what the cause is. He will not go to a doctor to try to find out.
