The most surprisingly part was that he's a republican.
I think he will be a good advocate for the trans community.
I wonder if he'll get jail time for the car accident, though.
I found it interesting that the only living family members who didn't provide comments were Kris and the 4 Kardashian kids. (Well, and his siblings other than Pam who weren't named at all.)
The interview was good promo for his son Brandon's music.
I think there's one other sister, but I'm not sure if she's still alive. Bruce had a brother (Burt) who was killed in a car accident 40-50 years ago, which is why Bruce's oldest son is named Burt.
I have to admit I am a little turned off by the fact he is going to do a reality show about this.
I actually think it could be a really good thing. Maybe more people who don't understand the whole topic of gender identity issues might learn about it and end up with more of an open mind.
I didn't know that Jenner was going to have a reality TV show - where did you hear that?
It's going to be on E (of course). It was supposed to air sooner, but he needed his whole family to be on board with it, so I think he did the interview as a compromise and the show is going to air this summer. It was in the news several months ago, like maybe December?
Interesting, thank you! If the reality show is anything like the interview it could really help/change the way people view transgender. It's very brave of Bruce and sheds a whole new light on him, he really wasn't like the Kardashians.

I tried to watch it online but couldn't, since everything is only available in the US, but I managed to find a crappy version on YouTube. I was surprised to hear that Kanye West of all people was super accepting.

This didn't surprise me, actually. He is I think always struggling to find himself and I think that part of Bruce's journey spoke to him.
That actually makes a lot of sense. No matter what it was, I was glad that Kanye is supportive when Kris H was tweeting about getting out when he did and generally being an ass about it.
I wonder if Bruce didn't want any of the Kardashian group there to draw the attention away from the issue at hand. He didn't want to give them any opportunity to make this about them.

Maybe. But, Kylie and Kendall are his biological children. And by all accounts, Bruce treats the other 3 that way, as well. The other bio kids participated, why leave them out? Because they attract more attention? That doesn't really hold water with me...I'm not sure it was Bruce's idea to leave them out. I could be wrong, though.
I can see why Sou is side eyeing it. I sorta am, too.

I think that is a bit harsh. They are super young( even though they don't always act that way) and have to be going through a lot in this process. They did tweet support to him.
We have a teacher who transitioned and he has two teen children, one is really struggling and the other is fine. Teens are interesting.
It is awesome that he will finally be able to live his true life.
I guess? The whole Kardashian clan is exhibitionist and it just seems odd that this would be the issue where they couldn't show up, sit on the sofa and say "I love and support my parent." I judge.
This, exactly. Also, I really hope Kris doesn't have a hand in the production of his series on E! I seriously cannot stand her and her need to control everything Kardashian.

One of the young Kardashians tweeted that she was super proud of her dad and that the moment was about him and not her. It kind of made it seem like they took a step back b/c the show was about Bruce, not them.
::Shrug:: Not normally in their character, who knows. I thought it was a nice thing to say.

My suspicion is Kris pressured them not to participate. Especially Kylie and Kendall, they are both still pretty young and fairly dependent on Kris from my understanding (could be wrong) and it's never fun to be stuck between Mom and Dad during or after a divorce. I think they were stuck between a rock and a hard place and either Bruce told them not to stress about it and not do it if it was going to cause issues or they caved to their mom. neither of which I'm going to blame an 18 and 20 year old too hard for.
I admit that I have a really hard time wrapping my head around the whole transgender thing. Can someone give me a good link to read about what it's all about?
Can I ask why you have a hard time wrapping your head around transgender? I am not judging at all because up until this thread, I never really discussed this and I really have to say thank you again to UW for answering questions and thank you to the other posters discussing this so I can learn more about it.
You know, I'm not really sure. Part of me has a hard time understanding how this isn't a mental illness, that you have this overwhelming feeling that your body is wrong and that you were born in the wrong body. And I think just emotionally, it's so foreign to me that it seems bizarre to me. But I'm trying to learn more about it and be more understanding and sensitive about it.

This seems pretty plausible. Especially the bolded. I think Kris is straight up evil.

I am hoping this helps people to be more accepting of the trans community. As a family member of a trans person I witnessed how difficult the process was for the person and the family. I saw the detachment of some family and the rallying of others around that person. I applaud Bruce for being so open.
