So I'm totally lost as to what to do with Joshua's new room. It's painted a light beige (?) right now, and I'd like to do something in there before we move in. He's not into sports (yet), and he loves airplanes. HELP! (I know, FWP)
What are your objectives with the room? Do you want the paint colour to last as long as possible or do you anticipate redecorating in a few years again?
If you want something more long-term I would go with a mid-tone on the walls, that way it won't be too little-kid-ish and not too dramatic. I also love plaids or stripes for boys - I feel like you can add sports themes, or airplane themes or whatever else on top of it and all it all coordinates.
Pottery barn has some nice madras prints, but I really like a solid bed sheet with a plaid sheet set with it.
IKEA also has this bedding that you can pair with solid sheets too:
This isn't a great pic and doesn't show the rest of the room ( pretty much built ins and a window seat). We just painted and the walls are now blue - it looks a lot better

I have no idea I like the thought of plaid- good call!

SO cute! Where did you get the kitchen and rug? I wanted something small kitchen wise for Joshua and that would be perfect!

The table and toy box have since switched places but everything else is the same. His room doesn't have a theme right now. I get him patterned sheets, dinosaurs, construction trucks, etc and then a solid comforter.
So my girl room might not be helpful. We didn't really do a theme, just coordinating colors, I'm hoping it will last longer that way. I'm also loving fun quilts for kids these days.
