If you've been to a beach wedding and wore a sun dress/maxi dress (or something like that), did you also wear a slip? Because I'm thinking I might need to get one.

I haven't worn a slip since I was a little girl and grandma made me. Why would a beach change whether you would wear one? Because of wind? Or because wedding = formal and slip = formal?
I could ask my mom and sister what they wore to my beach wedding Somehow I doubt either wore a slip. My friends wear maxi dresses all the time, and we're often at the beach, and I don't think they're slip wearers either.
I guess to answer Sibil's question, I'm thinking potential "see through" with the sun. And it may come as a surprise, but I don't really care about others seeing the outline of my body... ;-) I'm just thinking it may not be appropriate to others. It's not like I'm just hanging at the beach. and my husband in Best Man, so I'm not just any attendee.
As far as potential wind, I'm not too concerned about that as I'm wearing a fairly long, close to the body dress.

I was at a beach wedding last year and I don't believe anybody was wearing a slip. It was so hot out that I can't imagine anybody would've added unnecessary extra layers.

Hmmm.....tempting.
Regardless, I actually found a slip (cotton, thankfully) that fits and fits under the dress, so YAY I don't have to go shopping for one!
Depends on the dress. I always test mine in the sunlight at home. If I can see through it, it gets a slip. I probably wear one 75% of the time, but I'm a total prude, so there's that.
Also, where did you find a cotton slip? I can't even find satiny slips in the store and end up having to raid the section at Goodwill to find them. Cotton would be so nice.

I did not wear a slip. But my dress wasn't see through. It was actually a slip dress. Gray with a pink sort crocheted thing over it. It never even occurred to me that it might be see through and from the pictures, it does not appear that it was. If your dress is see through I would wear a slip. If it is just something that the sun would shin through and would show the shadow of your legs, I wouldn't worry about it.
I think it is the latter. I'm torn. I think I'll bring the slip and make a last minute decision.
