How to get a splinter out-updated

Of a 13 month olds hand? Of course it's the hand of the thumb he sucks. Do I just hold him down and dig? It's been two days of trying to get it out without hurting him, like soaking and the baking soda trick.

Eta/ were oot, so I can't go to the pedi. I could go to an urgent care if I really need to.

Is it bothering him? They can work their way out naturally, if it doesn't look infected.

It's red. But not oozing or anything.

We used a safety pin to help pull it out. DD didn't mind that, surprisingly.

Hmm yeah that is tough. I might just wait and see if it comes out on its own, but the prospect of getting a splinter out scares me! I think you would just have to hold him down

I'm weighing my options if the second attempt of the baking soda paste doesn't work. Since it's not infected looking I may let it work its way out.

my mom always wrapped that white medical tape around a splinter because the stickiness of the tape will draw it out.

this could totally be an old wives tale and have no merit, but it won't hurt him.
