"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
glenn beck is saying that watching biden try to keep up with ryan in a debate will be like "conservative porn." unfortunately, i think he might be right. wdyt?
I think they'll be pretty evenly matched. Biden will have a lot of specifics and figures and exact quotes but will stumble around with them. Ryan will be more charismatic but will be super vague when talking (e.g. my plan would lead to prosperity because prosperity should be a goal for this country. Which is why I will make it a priority for my plan to lead to prosperity.)
I will agree with this. The unfortunate issue I see is that most of the American electorate doesn't understand that being vague isn't ok, that it does not equal a plan. They listen for the key words, scream 'fuck yeah' and head to the voting booth.

Watching the Cheney/Edwards debate in 2004 was liberal porn, so yeah, he's probably right.
and we all remember how well that went for the Democrats.
I think we probably need that reminder right now that no one pulls the lever because of the VP on the ticket.

I think this needs to be chanted over loudspeakers to some CEP'ers... All this handwringing, over a dude who would do nothing but break ties and wield his comically over sized head appendages around like a boss.
I think the Ryan v. Paul VP debates will be political junkie porn regardless of party affiliation. They're both well-spoken and I'm sure they'll each get some hits in and it will be entertaining to watch. I dislike Ryan as a candidate much as the next liberal but he's definitely not stupid or un/underqualified (nor is Biden, although I am not really his biggest fan either) and I can appreciate a good debate. Especially after last time when the VP debates had no substance and I ended up drunk as a skunk taking shots every time someone said the word "maverick."

It will most definitely be entertaining, Ryan and Biden are both passionate about their stances. If Biden stays on message, it won't be nearly as entertaining as it would be if he goes off on his tangents.
ETA: Obama and Rommney debates are going to be UGLY.
Ryan is definitely a better speaker. Right now, I think his biggest stumbling block will be the sky-high expectations. When you're expected to blow the other guy out of the water, just winning respectably seems like a disappointment. I'm curious to see how the GOP will try to lower expectations between now and then. If I learned nothing else in high school government class, it's that lowering expectations is the name of the game.
Or I could have just dittoed you. Curses to me for posting before reading.
I don't think you are giving Biden enough credit here. Yeah, if he drops an F bomb or something I suppose that would be comical, but he is a smart and savvy person. He is definitly capable of holding his own against Paul Ryan. I mean, come on.

Really? If you ever listen to Ryan in interviews, he's actually very detail-oriented when it comes to thoroughly explaining his position, and he does it in a way that is not particularly "over the head." It's one of the things I like about him.
I think Biden can hold his own, but frankly, I don't think Biden is particularly detail oriented in his explanations - he's very much a catch-phrase and rhetoric guy who plays off his own emotions, as well as the D base when it comes to most things with the exception of foreign policy. He wiped the floor with Palin particularly in that area, but then again, I'm betting Ryan doesn't see Russia from his kitchen window either.
