We first put M in a restaurant high chair at 6 months. He was sitting quite well by then, but he just looked so small in the high chair, and we worried that he would fall out! We regularly put him in restaurant high chairs now at 8mo. He's still small, but he's pretty secure in the high chair.
He still hasn't sat in the grocery store cart because we still use the infant seat. I have no interest in switching to a convertible until he outgrows the bucket.
So cute! What is the green mat you have in front of him??
My supply has rebounded ever so slightly but we're still pulling from the freezer stash daily for his daycare bottles. :/ Would you feel comfortable starting your kid on wcm at 11 months? What about 10.5 months? I'm not sure how long my stash will hold out.
We'll be traveling while DS is 11-12 months old, far, far away from my freezer stash (if there's any left at that point). If I get the opportunity to leave DS then, I'll probably try cow or goat milk, but only because it seems like a waste to buy a whole tub of formula for 1 or 2 bottles. If he were getting bottles regularly, I think I'd see how it went with formula first.
To settle this debate once and for all, I called the pedi, which DH has been nagging me for days to do. The nurse laughed and said she had no idea what temp was safe. She said "that's a new question! Congrats, I never get new questions anymore! I have no idea." She's going to ask the pedi and call me back. I'll report back
And arch01, the pedi said "your bedroom needs to be 68-72 degrees. So it's way too cold to open the window." So that at least puts off the argument for a few weeks.
When did you start having your child sit in a high chair at restaurants or in the actual grocery cart? It seems like a lot of people say when the kid can sit up independently. My kids can sit on their own for a few seconds, but definitely not for long periods of time but are fine if they're supported.
When did you switch from the infant to the convertible car seat.
We had DS sitting in restaurant high chairs shortly after he started solids. He was a little floppy at first in those wooden ones without a high back, even though he could sit up on his own, but he got the hang of it after a few times out.
I switched Dd to a convertible at 4 months (due to size), but then proceeded to avoid all cars/taxis for a long time because it was such a PITA to install RFing. The bucket seat installation is a breeze, so I'm trying to use it for as long as possible. We lasts used it about 3 weeks ago and DS seemed to still fit.

-Am I reading the passport website correctly and a minor would only need a birth certificate to travel to/from Canada? (Driving) Also travel related, hotels don't charge for an extra person with a baby right? We'd bring our own PnP so it's not like he's really using much of anything.

I feel like I am constantly asking this question, but I need more table food ideas for my almost 11 month old or reassurance that I can feed her more. Right now she has tried scrambled eggs, green beans and carrots (canned), grilled cheese, toast, yogurt, avocado, banana. We did not do BLW, so I get tripped up about how big the pieces of food should be and whether she can handle different foods. She has 6 teeth and I think she is cutting more.
Or, more succinctly, what does your 11 month old's daily meal plan look like?
Not a kid question, but do upholstered headboards get dirty from your hair/head touching them?
Also how do you pick a good mattress? We have a pillow top now and hate it because there are two big body grooves in it and it isn't flat. We are both stomach/side sleepers and want to upgrade to a king.
My baby only wants to sleep on his stomach. I know this is a no-no but would you let him in the pack and play with nothing else if he was wearing a snuza monitor?
I let my DS start sleeping on his stomach at 8'weeks. I know it's frowned upon but we needed sleep. He still prefers his tummy at 8 months
1. DD is 6 weeks old. She used to poop 5-6 times a day, but now poops 2-3 times a day. Is that normal? DH is freaked out that he "never sees her poop anymore." He's luckily just missing the few poopy diapers.
2. DH is desperate to open the window while we sleep, but DD is in our room so I keep saying no. At what outdoor temp would you open the window with a newborn in the room? We have no fleece clothes FWIW, she sleeps in a cotton sleeper and cotton Miracle Blanket.
Yes totally normal.
How many blankets/clothes layers do you have? She really only needs as much as you, maybe one more layer. Try putting a long sleeve onesie under the sleeper if you think she needs more

High chair/cart around 5 months with dd and 6 months with DS
Car seat around 4 months with dd and 6 months with Ds
(Dd sat independently at 4.5m, DS sat independently at 7m)

At 11 months she can basically eat everything you eat. (Besides honey) If you're nervous do pea sized pieces to start but she can probably handle bigger.
I don't remember DDs diet at that age and DS is only 8 months.
DD has been a gassy baby from the start. We tried three different formulas (including soy - which made it so much worse) until we landed on Parent's Choice version of Similac Sensitive. She does good most of the time, but every so often she just gets to feeling terrible. Screams, constantly kicking, etc. Only way to calm her is mama cuddling time and the drops.
I just get nervous with her on these drops. Is there anything else I can try? Would probiotics help?

6 or 7 months and wrapped a blanket around her for stability
Switched to the convertible in my car around 9 months and h kept the infant seat until she was too tall, about a year

We're not at 11 months yet, but are doing BLW. Have you tried raviolis and tortellinis yet? That's my go-to super-easy meal for DS. Also, any kind of bean- edamame, chick peas, black beans, etc. And then meats and fish- baked salmon (I remember that being DD's favorite at 11 months, and we never did BLW with her, but she was on all table foods by then), strips of baked chicken, strips of beef, pieces of meatloaf or hamburger, chunks of lamb, duck pulled off the bone (but without the fat, I'm worried he'll choke on the fat). Oh, and tofu. DD always liked tofu, but it turns out that DS doesn't.
When do they stop using the exersaucer? DS is super mobile. He doesn't seem as excited about the exersaucer anymore and would rather just explore on his own, but he'll tolerate the exersaucer for times when I need him contained for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. Not sure if it's time to just retire it.

Do many taxis in NYC have Latch bars? We are traveling this weekend & are tentatively planning to bring our convertible, but I am trying to think of ways to ditch it.
I already called KidCarNY and it is almost $150 each way for airport pickups with car seats which is crazy to me.

I am not in the least trying to dissuade you but in case you would like to do formula, you can purchase the readymade formula in very small quantities.

I was able to use latch last time I put DD in a cab with a convertible seat, around 2011. But, unless I have to travel with the car seat anyway, I usually take public transportation to/from the airport here. Are you flying into JFK, LGA or Newark? If you want to send me a PM, I can tell you what trains/buses to take to get wherever you are going.

I was wondering the same thing re. Chicago. Rental Cars and car services seem crazy expensive if we get car seats with them plus parking. I was thinking about just doing a seat belt install in the cab with the infant seats.
At what age do you start telling a kid "no"? (for things like pulling hair, hitting, etc.) DD is 6.5 months and I usually just stop her from doing whatever it is without saying anything, but I wonder if I should be "correcting" her.

I have no idea if DS knows what I mean, but I say "gentle hands" (or "suave" in Spanish) all the time when he's pulling hair, poking fingers in our eyes, etc.
ETA: I would use words in addition to your actions. It reinforces it and at some point, she will put it together. But I have a tendency to narrate everything we do.

That's what I do when she pulls the dogs' hair, but for some reason it didn't occur to me to do when she pulled my hair. Thanks!

I've never done anything BUT the seat belt install with the infant seat. It's very easy and perfectly safe.
If your baby will be between 4 and 7 months this summer and you intend to take her to the pool/beach multiple times throughout the summer...would you get a rash guard and swim diaper cover combo or a regular bathing suit?
Is it necessary to get a rash guard earlier b/c you can't use sunscreen until 6 months?

I wonder this as well. I plan to get DS a rash guard and shorts bathing suit but for DD I can't find one I like so was going to do a 1 piece. Both will have hats and sunscreen.

We put her in the cart/high chair around six months. We also switched to the convertible around this time.
