So we're finally getting G baptized next month. He'll be 11 months. It's being done in the Episcopal Church. What should he wear?
I've only seen one Infant baptism at our church and the baby was much younger, like 3 months old. He was wrapped in a blanket so I couldn't tell what he was wearing.

Both my kids wore an heirloom gown, but if we didn't have that, I would have picked a white dress for DD and a white shirt and probably khaki pants for DS (which is basically what he wore under the gown). There are all kinds of little suits and white outfits, but I wasn't into the boy options.
DS wore my gown and DD wore my cousins. It was at a Catholic church. If you don't have a family gown I would do some type of white outfit like nice shirt and pants. We changed them for the party into fancy clothes that were white and black.

DD was going to wear my gown (Catholic) but it was too small by the time I finally baptized her so she just wore a white dress. I would do all white or maybe light blue seersucker and white.
B wore this one-piece outfit, I think it was the FAO Schwartz brand from BRU.
It was just the right blend of dressy but comfortable. He was about 8 mos, UCC baptism. Our church is fairly dressy, in that men still wear jackets and ties, almost no one wears jeans to church, but a traditional gown still felt like overkill, especially for an older babe.
DD wore a gown. My gown would not have fit her. Plus, it was short and a very thin cotton, since I was born in July and baptized in August. DD was baptized in November at 10 or 11 weeks, I forget which.
I think once a child is old enough to be on the verge of walking, the traditional heirloom gown ship has sailed. Even though that would be my first choice.
I'd consider a traditional Eton suit or even romper because I love really traditional old fashioned kids' clothing.
J wore something similar to what h posted. It was a white romoer tyoe outfit with some decorative touches and a mAtching hat. The girls wore gowns I had made from my wedding dress.
Agree that a gown is is probably not the best choice. I love the romper and seersucker suggestions and have found lots of cute options on etsy. And they're monogrammed!
DD was baptized in the Episcopal church and wore the same dress I did. OMG that thing was so hot. 2 layers of silk plus a bonnet. We were both sweating!!
AJ wore a little white knit outfit I found last minute at Von Maur, because I got it in my head he needed to be in a special outfit because OMG THE OTHER BABIES WOULD BE TOO AND I COULDN'T LET HIM BE THE KID NOT IN A SPECIAL BAPTISM OUTFIT. The other two babies that were baptized that day (all three were around 8-10 months) wore little baby dressup outfits but nothing specifically baptism-y, so I ended up pissed I got him a special outfit for nothing.
Our boys both wore heirloom gowns, too, but they were little.
Older babies at our church wear almost anything nicer. I had little 3 piece suits from Sears for both of the boys to wear after the baptism. (Neither looked/acted uncomfortable...and they looked adorable.) I generally buy them a little suit for every holiday, though.
We are Episcopalian too, and DS was baptized at 4 months old (in early June). I have no pictures b/c he had a blowout right after the ceremony was over and I had to change him He wore a white and blue striped gingham romper and white booties.

We were planning on him wearing a family heirloom romper thingy. Unfortunately, my (very large) preemie baby was too big for it when he was baptized at 3 months old. So, two days before we left town for the baptism I ran to Buy Buy Baby and got him a little outfit. Very traditional, very boring. It was a super hot day when he was baptized so afterwards we changed him into a lightweight blue/white checked overall outfit.
