Also...
1. When did your LO drop from 4 naps to 3 naps?
2. How long was awake time around 4-4.5 months old?
C's still taking 4 naps (although fights the 4th nap pretty badly)...awake time is 1.5 hrs but he might do okay if I pushed to 1.75 hrs. Not sure if this would help eliminate that 3rd nap or just make things worse.
C slept in his crib for the first time last night (and naps all day yesterday)!
He's still swaddled (18 1/2 wks old)...for naps I have been keeping one arm out (starting yesterday) and he seems to do okay.
1. When did you unswaddle?
2. How did you make the transition? Cold turkey, slowly with one arm out and then two, Magic sleepsuit, zipadee zip swaddle, etc
3. How long did it take?
4. Did your LO wake up more at night vs. during the day? Did you do things differently at night vs. day, especially in the beginning?
We have both the magic sleepsuit and zipadee zip swaddle but the PP doula was encouraging to just slowly unswaddle and see how it goes.
Mine got into cribs at 5 months (6 1/2 mos now). DS went to a sleep sack and had no issues. DD I tried but she would not settle down so she is still swaddled using Swaddleme with arms in. Thru the night she manages to break both arms free but she has a hard time falling asleep with arms out. After MOTN feeding I don't put arms in though and she falls back asleep on her own. Naps they aren't always swaddled and if I do I use A&A blankets so they can still move around.
I want to say around that time they ditched the 4th nap which was just an evening cat nap. Since then they've been on a 3 hour schedule and take about 1 - 1 1/2 hr naps in morning and lunch time. The 3rd nap is usually short around 4 pm. They're never awake for more then 2 hours during the day. Evening they're awake maybe 3 and that's pushing it.

We started the transition at 5 months with one-arm out, then both arms. She's still swaddled with both arms out at 6.5 months but we'll probably switch to a sleep sack soon since I'm worried about her being too warm.
Her sleep slowly regressed from 4 months until we sleep trained at 6 months, but I don't know how much the crib/swaddle transition affected that.
She's not a good napper, so I won't give you any advice on that
My 5-week-old has been awake for 3.75 hours now, aside from a 10-minute catnap.
What do/did you do to entertain/engage your infant?
He loves the bouncy chair. He does not like being worn. He wants to be looking around and fully able to move (absolute no swaddling). Apparently I was exactly the same way and almost never slept from day 1. He sleeps really well about every other day and is up a ton on the other days.
How long do you do tummy time at this age? He gets bored or frustrated, so we tend to keep it short.
1. When did you unswaddle? We did when we moved him up to his own crib at around 4 months. 2. How did you make the transition? Cold turkey, slowly with one arm out and then two, Magic sleepsuit, zipadee zip swaddle, etc We used the Merlin Sleepsuit- he is still in it, including for naps 3. How long did it take? He was fine with the sleepsuit right away, but I'd really like to ditch it. 4. Did your LO wake up more at night vs. during the day? Did you do things differently at night vs. day, especially in the beginning? He actually slept better. We initially used the suit just at night, but he was a terrible napper and would only sleep for 30 minutes or so on us during the day. We started using the suit this week for naps and he's been going an hour in the crib.
We have both the magic sleepsuit and zipadee zip swaddle but the PP doula was encouraging to just slowly unswaddle and see how it goes. If this works for you, I would do it that way. I feel like the sleepsuit is now just one more crutch we are going to have to wean off of.

We just did sleep training and it has really helped with both nighttime and naps, thankfully! C's sleep was horrible until we met with the doula and she encouraged letting him cry (kind of like Ferber but consistent and shorter check intervals).
How long did you do one arm out before both arms? Did you do one arm out for both naps and nighttime? Was nighttime sleep much worse?
I'm questioning whether I'm doing too much by doing both the crib and slow unswaddle at the same time. Yesterday was his first day doing both (although he was fully swaddled for nighttime because I was a chicken!). His naps seem a little less than when in the RNP and fully swaddled but it's hard to tell. He slept really well last night...swaddled and in his crib...really no different than before the transition.

I did tummy time until they screamed. Just keep doing it each day. My routine was lay them on play mat after eating so they can settle their tummy, then we would move to other stuff like tummy time. I would put them on their tummy on the boppy a lot and that helped too. Eventually they figured out how to flip over it so we stopped. I kind of hated that age where they want to play but they can't do much. Once they learn to grab toys it becomes fun. They love rattles and simple things like links now.

1. When did you unswaddle? About 2.5 months, mainly because I was so sorried about making sure it didn't become too much of a habit.
2. How did you make the transition? Cold turkey, slowly with one arm out and then two, Magic sleepsuit, zipadee zip swaddle, etc We tried to start with one arm out, but I was always too chicken to do that at night because she slept so well. So, we went right to the zipadee zip and there was honestly zero difference in her sleep with that on.
3. How long did it take? She used the zippy for about 2 weeks, and has been in a sleep sack ever since.
4. Did your LO wake up more at night vs. during the day? Did you do things differently at night vs. day, especially in the beginning? Once we went to zippy we used it for both naps and night. I didn't see a difference.

1. When did your LO drop from 4 naps to 3 naps? Right around 4 months.
2. How long was awake time around 4-4.5 months old? Not long, like 1.5 hours. Once we dropped the 4th nap it was like 2-2.5 hours at the end of the day.

I think my questions got lost in yesterday's thread so I'll try again and add one
1. Does E need a passport to travel to/from Canada or just his birth certificate? 2. Do hotels charge for a 3rd person for a baby or does the "child" rate typically start at like 2 or 3? 3. When can babies start wearing sunscreen? I realized when we were at the zoo that I need to start thinking about that. He has sunglasses and we mostly keep him out of direct sunlight but I wasn't sure when sunscreen was OK to use.

Maybe 2 weeks? We never swaddled for naps.
We did the crib transition first, which was pretty easy, and then started the swaddle transition about a week later.

1. I think he was around 5 months? He was able to roll pretty well and was busting out of it more often than not so I decided to give it a shot. 2. I did one arm out one night, then both arms out the next night after he did okay with one arm out. He did okay with both arms out so we went to the sleep sack from there since it was December and chilly. 3. Not long. Less than a week? 4. I don't thiiiink so? When we dropped the swaddle we did it for both bedtime and naptime. He was napping unswaddled at the sitter's so that helped.

I think I read 6 months somewhere too. I want to wear him on our vacation in July (and other times we go hiking or do other things outside) and he gets so warm that it will suck to put him in long sleeves and a hat in the middle of summer
Why are people obsessed with cleaning boogers off of kids' faces? Sometimes DD has a runny nose, and DH and I tend to be lax about wiping it as long as it doesn't get too drippy or crusty - I mean otherwise we'd be wiping it every minute sometimes! But we've had lots of people either tell us to wipe her nose or hand us a napkin, etc. Daycare even specially requested yesterday (when I'm pretty sure her face was clean) that we bring her to daycare with a clean face. Are we weird for being okay with a few clear boogers? DD hates it when anyone wipes her nose.
