It's expensive but I love White House black market. The shopping experience in their store is also really nice, they will help find things you like and give you ideas. They have nice casual stuff and more dressier things and I absolutely love their jeans.
I think the Limited does suiting pretty well. I won't touch their sweaters (or Loft either) since they lose their shape after one wear. Awful. I have been gravitating more towards department store brands for tops and dresses. The Nordstrom and Dillards in-house brands have held up nicely thus far.
ETA: Banana Republic is hit or miss for me these days but the hits have been some of my favorites.

This is who I was going to suggest as well. I have a lot of nice pieces from there.
The majority of my work and casual clothes are from Express. They always have sales and you can use a coupon on top of them. I've never had an issue with their clothes. I only get basic t's from old navy.
Another vote for Boden and Talbots. I think Loft could be hit or miss. Some of their work pants are nice, better than GAP. I also like Lands End and Nordstrom (depending on the brand)
Ditto this. I more or less stopped shopping at Loft after I ordered a few t-shirt last summer that were all paper thin and see through. Land's End makes nice stuff, but I don't always have luck with their fit. Talbots is having a Friends and Family 30% off event starting tomorrow w/ code FRIENDS30.
I really like CK for both work and Lounge stuff. Always on saLe at your department store of choice too. I've also scored some on amazon as well.
I can't complain about Express either. I have dress pants and cardigans from right out of college that are still fine. ..lol.
My best quality stuff though seems to be random brand stuff from tj maxx.
I want to like lands end and have some pieces but since I'm short and average all around I can walk the line between kindergarten teacher and grandma pretty quick.

I shop mainly at the Limited for work stuff now. I was so sick of the hems falling out of every single pair of express editor pants that I had to break up with them.
I also love WHBM, and I worked there about five years ago while I was between jobs. I have so many pieces from then that still look brand new, but I can't bring myself to pay retail anymore. I recently went back in and bought a couple things off the clearance rack with a coupon, and I had just forgotten how well their clothes fit me. I love their jeans as well.
Do you have maurice's where you live. I like it alot lately. They seemed to have revamped a bit and is more for our age range than the teen store it used to be. quality has also improved floor the most part. I stopped shopping there about 7 years ago because it was falling apart on the first wash but I've had awesome luck in the past year.

Hmmm, everyone here has been raving about Maurice's as well, and I only remember it from high school. We have one nearby, so I really should check it out.
I admit it's kind of old lady clothes & pretty pricey but I shop at J Jill quit a bit. Otherwise I shop at Nordstrom. I only have issues with quality from places like Old Navy.

I do, but I admit I haven't stepped foot in one since I was a teenagerÂ
Lol. I haven't either than my sister my coworkers and my sister in laws all started finding awesome stuff there so I went back. I think it's changed quite a bit from the ten store it once was. Definitely not like forever 21 etc. I have found two work and shower appropriate dresses there in the last month alone.
I buy Talbots for almost all my work clothes. I need to check out Lands End. DH has a really nice coat from there but I always forget about going there.
Talbots is reliable. Lands End and LLBean are as well.
There are some well made items at Banana, but you have to look at them on a case by case basis. Chico's tees are very good quality, but their sweaters can be iffy. Hanna Andersson womens clothing is beautifully made.
Another vote for Boden. I am trying to get away from buying things on sale at Gap/BR/Loft and hold out for fewer but nicer items from Boden.
aspentosh, their stuff goes on sale pretty quickly (although there isn't always a huge markdown); I don't think I've ever paid full price for anything.
I almost exclusively buy Land's End these days. It's held up to pretty heavy duty farm work. And their shirts are nice and thick. I'm still wearing the same shirts after 2-3+ years.
The dresses I wear to work mostly come from Boden and Ann Taylor. My work pants are from The Limited(exact stretch line).
For tshirts, I love the Supersoft tshirts from Gap. They are thick, really soft, and wash well. I only buy the Supersoft tshirts there as I don't think the others are as nice.
